My 681EEE was handy. I bought it new on Dec. 6, 1977. I bought a replacement Stanton stylus for it around 1980. The original stylus is shown with it's brush on left side in the case. The replacement is still on the cartridge on right.

I was duped back then to believe that a stylus was only good for a few hundred album plays. I've always kept my records and styluses clean.

I had the original stylus examined closely later by a tech and he said it was in great condition.

Yes, you increase tracking force by 1 gram when using the brush. I used the brush for a short time then took it off.

I always liked the sound of this cartridge.
I have a decent setup for stylus wear inspection, so let me know if you want an evaluation of the original, and/or the replacement stylus wear patches. No charge for inspection...just need coverage for shipping.

I got out and enjoyed the afternoon 65* temps and got some blood flowing digging on the side of the barn shed. About 4 wheelbarrows full of dirt. It's beautiful, soft topsoil from 30+ years.

IT WENT PRETTY EASILY TOO. :) Some roots got in the way here and there, but I dug about 5' of the 16'. Maybe some more digging tomorrow. :D I just remembered...it's supposed to rain tomorrow morn and early afternoon till 3pm. Oh well.

Perhaps I'll go get a new front door unit early in the morning.

Have eaten Armadillo cooked over a camping bonfire, tastes like a tad fishy pork. Was quite tuff but that could have been our cooking method, done well to make sure it's done.
Have to watch when you're handling those suckers as their nails carry some nasty's.

2 days of freezing temps and then 50+ degrees and sunny today.

I wanted to dig some more, :D And I did. Got everything done that I wanted. 4 hours total, slow and steady. ;)

Lots of wheelbarrow filling and dumping around the back yard to build up areas we wanted to.

I sure do. :D My calf almost resembles that handle. :#:p

As I was tamping ALL the dirt dumping grounds I did today, I was thinking of the tamping tools I've seen for sale over the years on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace, and thought I would NEVER need one in a hundred years. WELL, it took 38 years :D, not 100.

    Good thing I wear a size 12. :D

This event with police cars in front of my house this afternoon will stay with me till I die. :o

A cop car and a cop SUV were in front of my house for a while today, around 4 pm. The lights were on too. I had to get that dirt shoveled, so I kept working. The sun was behind the trees now and its starting to get cooler. I had 1/2 hour to go so I shoveled dirt.

30 minutes later, they're still here! The lights are still on too.

Are they here to meet a Coroner because my neighbor across the street has stage 4 cancer, and he just told me the night before that he was really, really feeling rough? Cops sat on the road a few months ago for a neighbor because he passed at home 2 doors over. The cops sat for over 30 minutes that day till the coroner came.

I thought of calling my neighbor with cancer, and then I thought, I'm almost done I'll call him in 5 or 10 minutes.

Well, 2 women cops came to my white vinyl fence section on the side and called my name. Tony? Yeah, that's me. Have you been outside for the past 30 minutes or more? Yeah, I've been out here for the whole afternoon. Oh...did you hear any gunshots? A few gunshots? No, I haven't. I have a radio playing where I'm working, but it's not that loud at all. Ok, thank you, Tony. I thanked them for their service and for responding to a possible gunfire incident.

I finished up and then thought...I hit the property line marker pipes 30 minutes before or more digging that corner out. There's a couple in that corner, and I hit those suckers HARD! a few times or more. I'm talking full force with the shovel lifted high, trying to cut through roots right beside the pipes.

I went to the road to see if they were down the street, and one car WAS. Too far for me to walk, so I went back to work to finish up. It was getting cold, and I wanted to rake the dirt piles down and be finished. I saw the one cop SUV drive past my driveway about 10 minutes after I looked down the street.

I can see my pipe strikes sounding like a 22. :D

I know the police here have listening devices atop utility poles in certain areas. When gunshots go off, I'm guessing these microphone arrays tri-angulate? to try and pinpoint the location of the shot(s).

I wouldn't think hitting a pipe, solid or hollow, in the ground would be loud enough to trigger something like that. If it could, you'd think any kind of construction etc. would set them off.

    Yes they do.
    They also have eyes...

Retired Lineman here and we used to work with the local police on some things.
They would come to us with court orders to install these transformers on the poles, in rear easements, in some questionable neighborhoods.
The transformers were actually cameras and video. If you didn't know what you were looking at one could never tell they're spy equipment.
They had fused cutouts, surge arresters, primary taps and secondary hookups to look damn near real.
