Do you remove the Chalaza before cooking (usually when frying) an egg?
I do not. I've known people that do so, every time.
Just curious.
EDIT: This thread has taken off in an odd direction. -

…
Never. Why would ya? And how would ya?

^^^^ There are methods.
No one in my family ever paid attention to it. One morning in the mid 1970's,
one of my mother's friends came by when we were making breakfast. She
went to the frying pan and said she always removed that. We never removed one even
after she showed us. She was from a farm in central Iowa.

Well I'll be dipped in chicken droppings: what a super informative thread..........I'd never heard about chalaza till today.
-
The hen put all that stuff in there, so we eat it.
Our eggs are all locally sourced. Indeed, we know many of the hens -- not on a first name basis or anything, but we've met.
I use a Le Creuset frying pan for omelets (FWIW).

By the way, a PAPER TOWEL works best for grabbing the membrane and pulling it off!
I peeled the membrane off two racks of pork spareribs I made yesterday. I used a paper towel too.

Made two pans of spareribs. Just over some ****. In oven, covered with foil, then uncovered last 30 minutes to brown. They're not burnt, the paprika I added on top forms a crust. Boiled some white new potatoes, then buttered them and added fresh parsley. They were good. But I prefer smoking them outdoors. Baby back ribs are better too! -
Can't type K R A U T ? How about Sauerkraut ?

We used to have araucana chickens. They would lay green eggs. As for the white part of the egg, don't eat it if it has a beak.Gustard X26 Pro DAC

Can we talk about chickens in there, too?
I'd have said yes, and make sure to include plenty of paper towel, but unfortunately the stars didn't align and I won't be able to get them as I don't have time to make the journey of 22 hours to Ontario 😔My gear:- TCL 75QM7K TV

For sure; here in the real world chickens and big SDA's do compliment each other rather nicely.
