Since I know that I have a tendency to go a little bit into the weeds :p when discussing things like loudspeaker loads and amplifier capability, I thought I'd share this rather cute illustration of real power (power that can do electrical work), reactive power (which is kind of useless to the end user) and power factor. :)

    9ac6b1kk2pmd.png

(full disclosure: yeah, I saw it at ASR)

Remember that the reactive part of a complex load like a loudspeaker depends on frequency -- just in case you know anyone who thinks that any amplifier and any loudspeaker will be fine together. ;)

  • you know -- if you leave unpasteurized and unfiltered cider in your refrigerator for long enough, it can result in a surprisingly tasty hard cider.
    ... or it can explode.

Follow me for more tips. :#

  • It won't explode if you put a ballon or one of those long tubular balloon like things that sometimes prevent child belly explosions over the jug mouth.....

"Katz used an old mechanism for recording phone interviews, with varied results"

He probably used one of those suction cup induction attachments you could stick to the side of the telephone.

That or one of those early 'speakerphone' cradles for 'conference calls'. These worked a little better than the inductive pickups -- at least for having an early version of a conference call.
