Last year, Tuomas Katainen blew up his modified 2013 Tesla Model S and recorded the explosive event in a now-viral YouTube video..........after he was told it would cost him around $22,000 to replace the battery.

Earlier this year, parents spent $11,000 on a used 2014 Ford Focus Electric car for their daughter. It needed a battery, which cost $14,000 and there were none available.

So yeah, high price but believable. Part number search shows discontinued part, but some say that battery was only 9K in forums. The 9K price could have been a refurbed battery. EDIT: Est could be faked too.

Yeah, curious to see how these non-oem batteries do, because third party batteries for phones and laptops have a great track record.

There will never be a "Classic Car" ever again...
At the most 2 battery cycles. A 3rd battery replacement with the additional maintenance would deem the car trash.

35k+12K+15+...no resale value...60k trash plus disposal fee in 20-25yrs for a mediocre car

I was surprised to learn they still sell these at our local farmers market. If you blow through them, they still give off a puff of "smoke" like the old days. Being the bad dad, I bought my kids several packs.🤣

The "Pilot" brand must have been sold. This stuff looks cheap.

Is there even anything decent in there? I haven't heard Lee Ritenour, but that orange record looks cool enough that I'd listen to it! Maybe the Bill Evans?

I just ordered a handful of old records from Discogs sellers over the past 6 to 8 weeks. Limited to "favorites", and/or those "conducive to the vinyl experience" B) Some of them get kinda pricey when you try to stick to NM/M-, and even then it's a bit of a crap shoot, depending on seller grading. Some sellers kind of stretch the condition a bit. I try to ask for play graded condition, as well, since I had one recently that was graded NM and looked beautiful, but sounded like a fresh bowl of Rice Krispies the first 5 seconds after the milk goes in.

I have to really want a record in order to buy it on vinyl anymore... especially brand-new vinyl. I normally buy used from a record store, or on eBay if the seller looks good. My vinyl collection is actually relatively small :/ I tend to geek out more on vinyl playback systems than actually collecting records. It's not the direction I predicted when I got into this, but here I am.

Well, I shouldn't understate how many records I have, but it's likely quite puny compared to most of you guys. I probably have 300 rock/pop, plus another 100 instrumental/classical.

I'm actually at the point of where I have all that I really want to have. I'm pretty content with digital or streaming for anything else...for now ;) Record storage is also a limiting factor until we get a bigger house.
