Upgrading my 20 year old B&KAvR 507... need some help

Using my older BK receiver from around 2002 its still a damn powerhouse. I also have the same Speakers from 2002, they are the Polk LSi15s , LSIC and LSiFX for the rears. My sub is a 2002 SVS CS Ultra with Samson1000 amp and also just added a PB3000 for duals..

So as the post states... would it be worth it to buy a newer AVR? I wouldn't want to spend more then 2k max. I would add HDMI and all the new DTX and Dolby sound formats that i cant play when using my XBOX Series X along with UHD BluRays... right now my BK switches to Dolby Pro Logic 2 which is annoying but honestly i own like 2 UHD movies, the other 99% is streaming content from Netflix etc all which use Dolby Digital 5.1.

My speakers are 4ohm and the B&K powers them with no sweat playing at references levels for hours on end... That's what worries me about a 1500-2k receiver, they just seem cheaply built compared to my current. The dang thing weighs close to 60lbs !!

Thoughts?

Some other people said... Denon 3700 with a 3 channel ampc6akj1s9ayz9.jpeg

to power my front 3 would be good.. Im seeing some reviews saying the 3700 is handling 4ohm just fine.. Could i get away with just an AVR?

attached are some pics... I just moved in so havent dont cable management etc..

You will shocked by the quality of the new codexes…hd and atmos…yes upgrade: but no, an avr alone will not do it these days. What’s ur potential budget?

Here’s a solid amp that would make those speakers sing: https://outlawaudio.com/shop/products/50-model-5000x-5-channel-amplifier.html

And here is a 7.2 great AVR with preouts and all the newest codexes: https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/yamrxa1070bl-rb/yamaha-rx-a1070-7.2-ch-x-110-watts-a/v-receiver/1.html

I had an older version of that Yamaha and it is a great HT avr.

I have a RX-A2070 and used the Outlaw 5000 with it before I upgraded. It was a nice combo and gave me a better sound than just running my front speakers off the 2070.

An alternative approach is to get a 4K Blu Ray player with a full set of analog outputs and send the multichannel analog signals to your current receiver. Send the video through HDMI straight to the TV set.

Personally, I wouldn't be looking to buy a new receiver at the moment because of supply shortages and inflated prices. Used may be a better idea if you can find something like a Marantz SR8012. I consider that to be on par with B&K for audio and way better for switching.

Here's an example of a 4K player that's intended for audio analog out...

    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_133UB9000P/Panasonic-DP-UB9000P1K.html?tp=171

This approach assumes the B&K 507 has multi channel analog inputs. I think it does but the last time I looked at one was more than 15 years ago.

Nice pickup. I noticed the b stock Monoliths a few days ago as well and was thinking of trying one out, the 5 channel version. I know they seem to get good reviews for HT use, but wonder if they are at least listenable with LsiM for music.

I had that exact same setup years ago. I started with the AVR307 and then had the AVR507 ( which I still have sitting in my basement LOL ).
Anyway , Getting a AVR right now is almost impossible. The shortage issues are strong with AVR's from everyone.
To retain most of the excellent sound quality from B&K, I would look into NAD. They are the closest thing on the market that would satisfy you. Athem is also a good choice followed lastly by Marantz.
I think people get to hung up with power ratings, AVR power etc. They don't however take into consideration the room size and how Loud you actually listen at.
The LSI system is a 4 ohm and I think around 88 db. Yes that is a bit more challenging to drive IF you trying to reach reference levels. You also can run all speakers in small and retain power. Especially using the NAD, power isn't a concern. Anthem and Marantz I don't also think power is going to be an issue especially if you stay with Flagship models. Your budget allows and why not right?

BUT you will be waiting quit awhile. So I would go order a NAD, Anthem or Marantz of your choice and wait for it to come in.
