    I'm very intrigued by the Musical Fidelity M6S PRX. Seems to be very well liked. Can't find much on the specs. But it is rated for 230 at 8 ohms. So for my 3 to 4 ohm infinities, it should have more than enough power. Everyone says it will drive difficult loads with ease. No 4 or 2 ohms specs can be found. At least not by me. I like that several reviews talk about how well it controls (with vicegrip like hold) the drivers.

    And its only $2,500. Besides the obvious power increases with the $4,000 M8 amps, are there other reasons to spend double on the M8? I have not read as much on the M8 yet. About to do that now.

    We did meet with a realtor today and I'm pretty sure even after we split the equity I'm walking away with a considerably higher amount than I was guessing last week. So a new amp is for sure happening.
    I don't recall what retailer I saw had a in home risk free trial. I like that idea.

    The husband of one of my wife's friends was over here today. He has somewhere north of 75k invested in his system. He was so mesmerized by the performance of my humble setup that he spent the better part of three hours trying to figure out how some 30 year old Polks and a pair of home-made amps can destroy his Krell/Wilson combination...

    MF normally publishes 4 ohm specs if applicable, so I suggest asking them about that.

    Edit: Looking at their spec info now I see they've stopped listing 4 ohm specs...weird.

    But wait...the M8xi integrated shows the following.
    Power Output (20Hz - 20kHz): 550 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms (870W into 4 Ohms); Peak 1.6kW into 2 Ohms

    I picked up a Mark Levinson No. 431 a while back and if the performance of this little beast is any indication of the entire line I’d say you couldn’t go wrong with anything here !

    With older amps it's nice to know if they had seen any service. My Krell KSA-250 was delivered from New York during an ice storm by Ed Savinon, the SRT king. It saved the day as I had been auditioning amps for my new at the time Salk SS8's. Bright, shrill highs? Nope. I was told this amp melted solder on fuse holders on a pair of speakers cranked to beyond 11 just to see what would happen...lol Been recapped at factory. Nice thing about Krell, if they still do it, they will tell you service history when you provide serial number. Some folks have been known to say things were recapped but they can't offer any proof.

    I've sat in the sweet spot for this amp, there is nothing bright about it. It's a beast !! I wouldn't hesitate one bit to grab one if I had the chance.

    I've found the best way to find a new piece of gear is to just start buying random stuff and eventually you will find "the one".

    As long as you buy it right you can usually sell it for roughly the same or more, maybe a small loss.

    Synergy is the key. It's not about price, brand, specs

    NOT disappointed in the least. Great amps, great company, great CS . . . no regrets!

    I agree with this approach and it is what I tend to do as well. If you buy smart you can try a ton of nice gear and not lose your ****. It’s more time consuming than buying one piece and being done but it is fun to try other brands and it allows you to fine tune the sound you are after.

    You just may find some stuff that people gush over isn’t all that great and then there may be some lesser known gear that’ll really make you go WOW!

    Yup, I've done it for a couple decades....got to try a LOT of different gear and at the end of the day, for not a TON of coin. Buy. Flip. Buy. Flip....now, I finally got to the point were I'm good with what I have but it took years to get there.

    Greg Garska is who rebuilt my (not mine anymore) TFM45


    I'm not really sure I want to go the Tube route for the amp. Ill be to tempted to rolls tubes and that ain't cheap.

    Nice McIntosh for sure. But at that age it would be out of my set budget after a refresh.

    The more reading I do, the more I think I want to go with a new unit.

    Even new stuff can have bugs. Home trials are a great way to go though as you are only paying return shipping ( in the long run ) if it doesn't have the synergy you are looking for.

    So what is done in the "Dark" upgrade? Their website just says the price tag for the upgrade which is impressive. I loved the review they reference for the 180 compared to the NP 30.5 saying if you want the tube sound get the solid state NP and if you want that solid state slam sound get the Rogue tube :D
