When you hand tune is this to measurement (spec), by ear and approximately how far off are they? Curious minds....how many of Tony's boards remain?

    Nice work, as usual!!

They turned out beautifully, Dave.....thanks! Currently warming them up inside of these guys and initial impressions are super favorable. I'll post some detailed impressions once they've burned in good....again, thanks for the great work and service!jv88vlfy0w61.jpg

I use an Inductance Meter, and always tune them to spec. If they are slightly low, less than 2% or so, I'll match the opposite channel. I'd rather they be slightly low, but matched within les than 1%, than mismatched.
Tony's boards are no more. All gone.

    Nice, Dave, clean.
What did you use for the mounts, and what are those two white strips?
Is that a threaded insert in the center?

Scott, the mounts are made from 1/2" MDF, same size as the original circuit boards. There's a 1/4-20 Hurricane nut in the center, and I send along new, shorter cap screws. The white strips are foam tape. Once you tighten the cap screws, the foam tape compresses and keeps the crossover from spinning or vibrating.

I like how the resistors are on the back of the board to keep the heat away from those pretty, new caps! Nicely done Dave!

Scared the crap out of me. I saw the 2 resisters on R5 in series and thought that's not what I did back in 2011. Pulled up a pic and I have much different values. Jumped on Gimpod's placement site and verified. I have 22 and 24.9, parallel, but he gives the series example, as you have. First thought...oh $hit...they've been wrong for 10 years?

I'm no electronics tech but am capable of soldering XO's and following directions, so quick Google search for resister calculator, 2 in parallel, and see my values, combined, are very much within tolerance of the 11.5 ohm spec. Whew. Pucker factor back to zero.

Quite sure I did the research back then and have done 4 sets of additional XO's but didn't need to double up, that I recall. Obviously, I have different values and probably worked through this w/Jeff @ Sonicraft when I ordered the parts. All this to say....I don't recall the discussion. Are there pros/cons to series vs. parallel or do you have a preference?

Both parallel and series are acceptable. I have no preference, all depends on what's available from my vendors.

The same power should be dissipated by each resistor, regardless of parallel or series. We know that power dissipation is in the form of heat which increases thermal noise but should be the same in each case.
