It's a little off centered, but looks like it's soldered properly.
I bet that off centered part is really going to get to you over time. It's going to eat at you from now until eternity.

It doesn't bother me, and the cable is functional. I guess this is just the quality level that you get for $10 these days. This was the cheapest 6 inch RCA to RCA cable I could find.

I planted the seed, Drew. It's going to bring back nightmares in your sleep of the VTI rack. You'll be trying to make love to your woman, but that center core connection will consume your thoughts and create performance issues. You'll be watching a movie and realize for the last ten minutes you haven't been paying attention because you are worrying that today is the day that connection is going to come loose. You're going to lose your appetite. You are going to come unhinged.

Have you guys ever seen this lazy way of bending back the shielding wires on a coax cable and sandwiching the wires under the clamp like this in order to create/make the ground connection on an RCA cable?

Would it really have been that much harder to just twist those wires up and solder them directly to the inside lip ground plane area of the connector? What the hell is going on here.

That's actually the standard practice for RF coaxial cable shields -- or at least it was back when I learned to do it (1970s).

Pixel 4a. I'm done with $800+ flagships. Phones have gotten good enough in all respects that I feel like it's just a waste anymore to be spending sometimes over $1,000

Ok, I'll take a look. I was going to go to the AT&T store Friday for a upgrade. I'll see what they have for Google phones.

heh -- four years old is but a pup. B)
    ahem

Saw this photo a couple of days ago from an account I "follow" on Flikr and thought some folks here would appreciate seeing it.

    (from North Island NAS)

The account from which this comes is the archive of the San Diego Air & Space Museum, and it is a treasure trove! It's mostly uncurated (and largely undocumented) but there are thousands of photos from the sublime to the ridiculous (literally) from various collections. If you have any interest in military/aerospace history (and even trivia), it's worth perusal, IMO :)

Reminds me of my cat that disappeared one day last fall. 10 years of devoted mouse hunting dog a$$ kicking, and cuddling.

Nerd. Okay that's enough pictures of random crap. If I knew how to actually frame and take a good shot it'd look a lot better but for a $350 phone it makes a garbage photographer look slightly less garbage.
