REL is a subwoofer company that targets the 2 channel audiophile market mainly. They offer subs in the normal price ranges and have HT subs but they also have products aimed at the 'High End' market. They push their $7500 No. 25 subs setup in stacks or arrays of two-three per side. https://rel.net/reference-line-arrays/

REL is one of my all time favorite sub companies on the planet. I've been messing around with JL Audio which is why I have a pair here. BUT I also love the hell out of Velodyne and dusting off the DD is a great way to get back into my past. In the past Velodyne was a huge part of my life and not so much lately.

I'd never even considered making towers out of those RELs. That would be insane. I doubt I'd ever own a stack, but I'd love to hear it.

Yeah, at AXPONA Magico had their $172k M6 towers mated with two $36k each Q-Sub-18s !!

    Half a million dollar rig!

Maybe the $45K REL 6-Pack is not a bad price in the Uber high end?

Although the price difference in the Magico subs and the REL sub towers is $27K, that's really only a 5.6% difference on the total cost of a half mil total system. I have to imagine people actually shopping at those levels don't really sweat to much over that 5%.

But I don't shop at that level, or anywhere remotely near it... so maybe not.

Those ^^^^ subs were pressurizing a HUGE open area. In a house you would more than likely loose some windows :D There were impressive and the magnet motor structure was HUUUGE on those drivers. They had just the drivers off to the side and they(magnet motor) made a regular sized water bottle look like a mini tiny bottle.

I don't see any reason to stack 3 subwoofers on top of each other per channel. This seems like someone doesn't understand room acoustics at all. Unless the room is stupid in size and the perfect placement for 6 subs in on top of each other then it's just a show off looking system.
Money has nothing to do with it, It's overkill depending on the room and placement of the subs. Maybe the room needs 6 subs which I never been in a room that needed any more then 4 for perfect balance of bass pressure in the room. I'd like to see the rest of that room.

As I said above money has nothing to do with it. It's the amount of subs in one place that bothers me. But I can't see the rest of the room to decide if that is proper placement or not.I'm willing to bet not.

Yes, I agree its a bit over kill. Even if the wealthy audiophile has a dedicated 1000-1500 sq ft room with a $200K-$500K systems, it seems like a bit much.

Even worst than the 2 channel audiophile are the home theater guys with more sub driver surface area than what one will find at your local IMAX theater. There will always be extremist out there.

The stacks work with different low pass filters for each level sub.

If I were rich I would make a push for it
Magico, JL, Emm, ARC Ref 10 line, ARC Ref 10 phono, VPI, Lyra, Boulder, AQ Wel, SRA Scuttle Rack, Bluesound
