Wait....are WE suppose to ACT like a moderator, without ACTUALLY being one ?? Now where is the fun in all that. I've got way too many snide comments in my back pocket waiting to be used darn it.

Besides, if we all acted like one, we wouldn't need one, right ? Just sayin'...but so far, we've been doing pretty darn good on our own I must say. Pretty proud of us members stepping up and keeping the joint civil. Just a few rough edges we still need a mod for, but that's just my opinion there.HT SYSTEM-

I am far too immoderate.

Lets be honest, a moderator is basically a babysitting job. No company likes paying people to babysit.....especially other adults. However we live in the day of the internet and a companies exposure is worldwide. This also exposes them to the keyboard warriors in every country, to those just looking to stir the pot for personal entertainment.
A good moderator should be able to see the crap starters and nip it asap. Much like spam posts, that should be gone but isn't.HT SYSTEM-

My point exactly, thank you:There you go again.
You are ignoring the fact that at this time I am NOT a moderator.....Hello!!!
The role of being an active club member, given to the occasional outburst or take down, is not compatible with the requirements of impartial moderation. You can do one or the other, but very few could do both.
Judge your own capabilities because you don't know mine or anyone elses.
BTW, I was dealing with that situation behind the scenes while it was ongoing. Of course, you wouldn't know that as it was behind the scenes.
I will also say it has been noted that you did not condemn the actions of that person.Political Correctness'.........defined

I see that no one suited to the post has stepped up I would like to volunteer my services as I am best qualified for the job. If elected to the honor of being your moderator my first action will be to quit, as I will not belong to a forum that would have me as a moderator. Can I count on your vote?
-
Judging by your remarks, you certainly seem to prefer confrontation to moderation. Perhaps that explains why the troll in question chose you as their primary target.
I do believe I was also another primary target of that attack. For the record I've rarely been confrontational on this forum. I will not however keep my mouth shut when I see someone trying to take advantage of our members that may cost them a large sum of money. I would hope other members would also do the same. Maybe you do not have that outlook, for me I call that INTEGRITY maybe you do not.

What say you? Where did I ever support the person in question? Quite the contrary, but you seem to consider this a personal attack of some sort, and it is no such thing.Judge your own capabilities because you don't know mine or anyone elses.

Wow. What a **** show this forum has become.

After seeing the offensive posts, I'd be happy to see ANYONE that has been a member for a certain term be an "early responder" for moderation. But, I'd suggest that anyone that becomes a moderator refrain from using the following avatar.

I'd consider the position but with banning powers, this site would be a barren wasteland with @verb having to talk to himself all the time...

Hi everyone,
I had a conversation today with the department that the Forum falls under. They will be moving forward with a moderator who is a Sound United employee.
There is no timeline yet for when that person will take over but that will be the plan.
As of now, I will be available to answer any questions. I will be checking in every day or every other day as needed.
Thanks! -

President of Club Polk -
The purpose of this thread was to ask for volunteers to help Polk with the moderation of the forum. Only 3 members stepped up to the plate, two more were seemly joking about stepping up. Unfortunately, a few decided to ignore the purpose and tried to tell everyone who should or should not be a mod and what a mod should or should not do. Those members were not part of the solution. My thanks go out to those that were as I know their intentions, like mine, were strictly to help the forum and therefore help Polk.Political Correctness'.........defined

Non Sequitur? I don’t see the relevance, or why anyone would think that I might not share that outlook.... I will not however keep my mouth shut when I see someone trying to take advantage of our members that may cost them a large sum of money. I would hope other members would also do the same. Maybe you do not have that outlook, for me I call that INTEGRITY maybe you do not.
Because I and others that had been included in those awful threads followed shortly after a member had been banned. That member had been less than truthful and caught bigtime.
That same member sent very threatening PM's to me and used very foul language at other's in the for sale thread.
That same member (we believe) then came back again under another name to start up again. Then basically tried a denial of service attempt in the end.
It had nothing to do with Jesse being confrontational, it had everything to do with Jesse seeing the foul language directed at others then stating to the individual that he was going to be banned.
I never stated you didn't share that view.
That is why I and the others were included in that attack. -
Thank you Ivan.

It seems like, and I may be wrong here, that Jesse has largely had the interest of Polk, the forum and its members first in his actions and posts. Many of us have precious little time to spend here, and, having built relations that reach beyond the internet (I know, life beyond the internet right?) look forward to coming here and catching up on the community. We become increasingly frustrated when we enter a thread only to find it derailed by many of the same members whose only purpose seems to be disruption for it's own sake. When that pattern continues he points it out, as do I and many others.
We all have varying differences of opinion, and, mostly agree to disagree on certain topics, but, continue to exist in a mutually agreeable societal setting. Some, apparently, aren't satisfied with this and continue to double down on their contrarian position. That is where I leave my desire to not offend. Without speaking for others, perhaps that's where they are as well. I see the pointed commentary about "older" members and think that speaks volumes about the person posting that comment. I, at one time, was quick to defend my position thinking I somehow had all the information I needed and would set others straight with my lifetime of experience. Ha, I didn't know what I didn't know. I've come to realize that many of the older members have much that I can learn. I also appreciate a member like Jesse stepping up and trying to call out those that seem to like nothing more than drama.
When all the nonsense started there were some that tried to defend it, others claimed that didn't have a dog in the fight. I take the position that if that is you're believe then you are guilty in as much as you saw the wrong and took no stand against it. I want a moderator that can see that and isn't afraid to address it. In that sense, I believe that Jesse has shown he comes down on the side of what's right for the betterment of the forum. If you're feelings are getting hurt because of something he said, maybe it's more you than someone else. It's not coincidence that it's often the same few that are complaining. -
Nailed it, thank you!Political Correctness'.........defined

Ken has pretty much put this to rest now. Thanks to all who stepped up, stepped into the weeds to help protect the forum.
Now can we get back to talking about speakers ? I hear Polk has some new kids on the block and I'm jonesin for some member reviews. We can also talk about food, wine and women....those things accompany audio too...right?HT SYSTEM-
