All past moderators have been Polk employees as that was the requirement of Polk. Other than that there's no reason a member or members of the forum could not be the moderator or moderators. There are many other audio forums that have members in a moderator role. So Kex, your reasonings are without merit....well, other than the obvious.
I understand that you may not agree with the reasoning, but it is certainly not without merit or validity.
Although there are other forums that have member moderators, those are not usually owned by larger corporations. Is Polk too small to have professional moderation?
LOL....you're the one doing all the protesting as you try to tell everyone what to do, repeatedly!
FYI, none of the past mods was a "professional moderator". Where did you come up with that one anyway?Political Correctness'.........defined

FYI, none of the past mods was a "professional moderator". Where did you come up with that one anyway?
A professional is a member of a profession or any person who earns their living from a specified professional activity. If a moderator is paid for their activity, then they are a professional. They would likely receive training in how to deal with situations that are likely to arise, and how to de-escalate those situations rather than fuel them with open threats. They would not allow themselves to be baited, or take pleasure in banning anyone.
The only disadvantage to professional moderation is the inherent cost, however that can be mitigated (other CS related duties, outside service provider, etc. etc.). The only advantage to volunteer moderation is that it is free.
This would be an example of unprofessional moderation:
I can tell how I feel about him. I'm LMAO at him as he has given me control over his life and he's too stupid to realize it.
A professional moderator would not engage in threats or banter in the open forum. They would simply handle the situation quietly.Alea jacta est! -

Wait....are WE suppose to ACT like a moderator, without ACTUALLY being one ?? Now where is the fun in all that. I've got way too many snide comments in my back pocket waiting to be used darn it.
Besides, if we all acted like one, we wouldn't need one, right ? Just sayin'...but so far, we've been doing pretty darn good on our own I must say. Pretty proud of us members stepping up and keeping the joint civil. Just a few rough edges we still need a mod for, but that's just my opinion there.HT SYSTEM-

There you go again.
You are ignoring the fact that at this time I am NOT a moderator.....Hello!!!
The role of being an active club member, given to the occasional outburst or take down, is not compatible with the requirements of impartial moderation. You can do one or the other, but very few could do both.Alea jacta est! -
Lets be honest, a moderator is basically a babysitting job. No company likes paying people to babysit.....especially other adults. However we live in the day of the internet and a companies exposure is worldwide. This also exposes them to the keyboard warriors in every country, to those just looking to stir the pot for personal entertainment.
A good moderator should be able to see the crap starters and nip it asap. Much like spam posts, that should be gone but isn't.HT SYSTEM-

Judge your own capabilities because you don't know mine or anyone elses.
BTW, I was dealing with that situation behind the scenes while it was ongoing. Of course, you wouldn't know that as it was behind the scenes.
I will also say it has been noted that you did not condemn the actions of that person.Political Correctness'.........defined

Judging by your remarks, you certainly seem to prefer confrontation to moderation. Perhaps that explains why the troll in question chose you as their primary target.Alea jacta est! -
I see that no one suited to the post has stepped up I would like to volunteer my services as I am best qualified for the job. If elected to the honor of being your moderator my first action will be to quit, as I will not belong to a forum that would have me as a moderator. Can I count on your vote?

I do believe I was also another primary target of that attack. For the record I've rarely been confrontational on this forum. I will not however keep my mouth shut when I see someone trying to take advantage of our members that may cost them a large sum of money. I would hope other members would also do the same. Maybe you do not have that outlook, for me I call that INTEGRITY maybe you do not.

Wow. What a **** show this forum has become.

After seeing the offensive posts, I'd be happy to see ANYONE that has been a member for a certain term be an "early responder" for moderation. But, I'd suggest that anyone that becomes a moderator refrain from using the following avatar.

Hi everyone,
I had a conversation today with the department that the Forum falls under. They will be moving forward with a moderator who is a Sound United employee.
There is no timeline yet for when that person will take over but that will be the plan.
As of now, I will be available to answer any questions. I will be checking in every day or every other day as needed.
Thanks! -

President of Club Polk -
The purpose of this thread was to ask for volunteers to help Polk with the moderation of the forum. Only 3 members stepped up to the plate, two more were seemly joking about stepping up. Unfortunately, a few decided to ignore the purpose and tried to tell everyone who should or should not be a mod and what a mod should or should not do. Those members were not part of the solution. My thanks go out to those that were as I know their intentions, like mine, were strictly to help the forum and therefore help Polk.Political Correctness'.........defined

Because I and others that had been included in those awful threads followed shortly after a member had been banned. That member had been less than truthful and caught bigtime.
That same member sent very threatening PM's to me and used very foul language at other's in the for sale thread.
That same member (we believe) then came back again under another name to start up again. Then basically tried a denial of service attempt in the end.
It had nothing to do with Jesse being confrontational, it had everything to do with Jesse seeing the foul language directed at others then stating to the individual that he was going to be banned.
I never stated you didn't share that view.
That is why I and the others were included in that attack. -
Thank you Ivan.
