    Give the L800’s time .....
They’ll be half price eventually- few years maybe .....
Polk hasn’t exactly nurtured a high end image the last decade or so ... mid-fi marketing , maybe ? Best Buy , Fry’s sales ..... I dunno ....
Certainly not the cachet of B&W , Martin Logan , et al .... ( not that they’re any good - but a perception of “high end” ) - not to mention the high end “boutique “ brands available......

Magnepan’s come to mind ..... what could you do for 6k on a Maggie setup ......??
Holy moly ...... 6k on Maggie’s and a sub .... end all be all set up .....
    Think ....
For ABOUT half the price of the L800’s you could do Maggie 1.7i’s and two killer subs - assuming u have the amplifier and room for them .....

    I don’t own Maggie’s .... but , if you like sda’s - you’ll love Maggie’s ....

For 6k , there’s a lot of really good high end options out there ....
Hopefully, they will sound as good as other speakers you can buy for 6k at a discount....

Gonna be a tough sell in my opinion...
That’s why I say they’ll be discounted ....eventually....

Let’s face it .... 6k for speakers is a lot of coin ......
For a 6k budget , there are a lot of great options available..... especially on the secondary market .... reference the post regarding the ushers for sale - 6.5k ....

    Polk - Ushers ? ..... 6k ..... L800’s better be good .....

    Hope they are ..
More importantly- hope they release a less expensive SDA line ..... when they do - I’m in !

    $1447.00. SHIPPED for a 706 and 707's :o:o

Had to do it! Should NOT be spending this money, but Waaaay too good of a deal to pass up. I've been contemplating a VR3 crossover upgrade for the A9's for some time now...I'm guessing 707 will be superior for barely more money!

They are on sale again, I think the links are different this time:

Mega-thanks for posting those links! I haven't been on here in a while and was about to buy the 707s on Amazon for $849 each as I thought that was a great price on them!

I actually came to the forum to search for threads comparing the LSiMs to RTis (707 vs A7 specifically), though I've known that the LSi will be a nice upgrade. But after seeing the links via CottageChz, I jumped on a pair of 707s and a 706c which are now on order! They all should be arriving this Wednesday as I opted for the $50 VIP360 membership...

Right on, it's great that you're making your own I.C.s. I've made lots of speaker cables with materials from both Monoprice and from Doug, but after making my own I.C.s it had it's own reward!

All you guys saving big on these LSiM 707 should really take that savings and get a T+A amp to light them up. I’m talking about older used units of course. New ones are north of $20k.

I appreciate the recommendation Skip, but I recently got my (emotive) XPA-DR3 amp.

Still need to get my acoustic foam up but otherwise the 707's are sounding pretty darn good.

I've recently upgraded my system with balanced connections....all is well in the hood.

Nothing on Ebay or audiogon, and I'm sure they're well out of my price range, the only reason it's happening now is they're so cheap! I wish 'saving' $3700 meant I had it to spend! I guess they'll have to make do on the 3500. :p
