    Anything around 40 is good, Imo. Mine is rated at 43 and I can barely tell its running...

    Some of the contractor grade stuff we install sounds like a freaking train, easily 70db or more... Honestly couldn't imagine that as you can't even run it at night

    There are good dbs and bad dbs. Kind of like cholesterol. It's all about db management! :D

    Mark it’s funny. I purchased a Miele about 3 years ago for $1500. It’s prob real world 40db. Super quiet. My brother in law purchased the higher end Bosch and it’s not as quiet but on paper the Bosch won the noise contest.
    Probably changed now.
    I just like the “German engineering “ factor I guess.

    You can't even tell this Bosch is running, super quiet.. as Jesse stated It does take longer to dry but we run it at night 99% of the time so I don't see this being an issue..

    Going to echo F1 and dabutcher. Just replaced an older Whirlpool with a new one with a stainless interior. Nothing was wrong with the old one, just an update. Oddly the new one didn't come with the grounded plug, so I just re-used the original.
    Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

    We recently got a Bosch 800 series. Our model is rated for 42db and I can barely hear it. My wife and I both occasionally open it while it's running because we don't notice that it's running. I've been really happy with the way it cleans. It had an odd odor for the first month or so. Online research suggests that it is related to the material they use for sound deadening that has an odor when it heats up. It seems to have less of that odor now, or maybe I've gotten used to it. Still quite happy with it overall.

    Who cares about dB's, just as long as the THD is low, it's all good.

    I have to go against the crowd here and say that my near totl Bosch is pretty frustrating. It is super quiet, but it doesn’t clean all that well, and it takes FOR-EV-ERRRRRR. And then the dishes are still wet. And the most frustrating thing is that the racks just don’t seem to be arranged very well...

    Very happy with our new Bosch. Which is nowhere near the TotL, db's are about 50, but unless I am right beside it, I can't hear it.

    It has different wash cycles ranging from 30 mins. to 2hrs. 15 mins. We almost always use the 30 min. cycle and the dishes are clean. Having said that, we do slightly pre-rinse the worst of them before loading them.

    When I had my kitchen remodeled I intentionally omitted a dish washer. In so far as the noise level, just because one might like loud music does not mean they like other noise. I moved my refrigerator to the garage to eliminate the background noise from it. One of the better things I did to the kitchen. Now I have a wine rack in the space.

    Pretty stupid question. To cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner are three immediate reasons. Then you need to wash the dishes, other utensils, and store them.

    So you have to go to the garage then, to get all your ingredients to cook with ? Sorry Bud, doesn't make sense to me. The proximity of the fridge, when cooking is just as important as the remote when watching TV. You don't keep the remote in the garage too do you ? :)

    How difficult is it to bring the ingredients into the kitchen, and put them away when done? It isn't, assuming you aren't super lazy.

    Our mid upper level one cleans fantastic.
    We regularly use "Finish" in ours.

    I am not sure how your dishes would still be wet, but all Bosch's heat the final rinse super hot and the water evaporates fairly quickly, in fact we have to wait about 15 minutes to even touch the dishes they are so hot, but hardly any wetness, UNLESS a plastic bowl flips over and fills with water.
