I hate this amp, it has a hum. Please give me one that makes me....compassionate towards wonky racks, like those ones made by the Sleestaks.

No, not one, but still, I think, I'll just sit here and be a dink.

Yeah, so that's my conundrum right now. Finding something affordable with the least amount of front to back and side to side wobble, that can support a 30lb turntable on the top shelf.

That was my worry as well, that because they have to make these things shippable, that the parts where they screw together would be the weak/flex point. As opposed to one solid length of column like the Adona racks.

    517DUFsFnnL._SL1600_.jpg

They do look like they can be filled with lead shot, maybe if you insert each individual piece of shot one at a time.

Kind of hard to gauge for sure. Anything screwed together like that is susceptible to more movement than other designs. There's just not much substitution for mass when it comes to rigidity.

Now this here would be a nice design if it was made from solid wood instead of MDF:

My non-engineering brain says the wobble factor with this is low. :grey_question:

Let's talk Solidsteel (again). Calling all engineers. @verb @kharp1 @F1nut

    S5 series.

    S5-4-web.jpg

    S5-Naked-Shelf-400x400.jpg

    S5-XShelf-400x400.jpg

Thoughts? Do you think this shelf system would add real isolation? Its still metal on metal. The mini spikes sit in their respective recessions.

No personal experience, but I understand they are pretty good.

I think they need a better translator to write product descriptions on their website!

"Ultimately, the customization is combined with the product technology described above, where the users can always adjust the heights of the plates on the shelves in order to enjoy a valid technical equipment at the service of their facilities or systems."

Same here. no personal experience, however, the materials look more robust to begin with. I would say that you'd be able to get a more rigid, secure fitting with their posts than some of the others. Says the tubes are filled with damping material, wonder if that means you can't add shot to them? I'm a fan of mass loading the bottom portion of anything that's twice as tall as it is wide.

Yeah, it sounds like they come prefilled with something: " The aluminum tubes, as well as for the S3 Series, are filled with damping material (not grainy)"

The overall weights for them are pretty high. 81lbs for the S5-4 and 103lbs for the S5-5.

Looks solid. Like the separate platforms on each shelf. Not completely isolated but you may be able to spike em later. Agree with the mass loading feature too.

The "floating" shelves are "spiked" with these:

Very nice. I like the spikes and the ability to adjust level as needed. I like the thicker aluminum tubes too. Mass loading will be a chore as the post have the push nuts in them.
