Oops, now I see that you got em. Good for you! That center is a beast. Do you have an amp to drive those speakers???

    Just a Yamaha 3020

Thats a great, powerful avr (for an avr), but those 707s would really benefit from external power. I had the 703s in a master bedroom, and they sounded good with a decent 125 wpc audiosource amp, but when I replaced it with a rotel rb-993 200 wpc amp, they really started singing! Tighter, better controlled and more authoritative bass, wider soundstage, everything just sounded better. Now if this is soley for HT, I think that you will be fine with the yamaha, but for music especially an amp would much a discernable difference...

  • Strictly HT. Might be overkill or a mistake. As long as it's better than the current setup.

No such thing as overkill on this forum. The mistake is asking for advice and not believing how much money you'll spend.

Nice room and good buy on those speakers.

I might bi amp the 3020 to the fronts and use my Dayton amp for the front and rear presence speakers

    What dayton amp?

FYI bi-amping from an avr doesn't really do anything. As you increase the number of speakers you dramatically decrease the wpc rating (from a sound and vision review):

Output at clipping (1 kHz into 8/4 ohms)

    1 channel driven: 194/275 W (22.9/24.4 dBW)

    5 channels driven (8 ohms): 69 W (18.4 dBW)

    7 channels driven (8 ohms): 63 W (18.0 dBW)

    Read more at https://www.soundandvision.com/content/yamaha-rx-a3020-av-receiver-page-4#gF58sWgBq1mFvmhk.99

So, when you are driving 7 channels it helps very little to bi-amp. Get a solid two-channel amp like a parasound HCA-1200 or 1500 or a rotel rb-991 or equivalent and those 707s will sing for you!

    Not a CR-3020, I presume?

  • Now I have an issue. Since I am doing towers I have no idea where the subs are going to go. As my wall to the center piece is 26" and my subs are 24" wide. Originally was going to put the bookshelves on the sub. What to do.

Move the giraffe and saber tooth out of the way. I think they'll fit.
  • Not deep enough. Thought of removing it, but wife likes the look.
  • Looks like I will cut holes in the wall as mount them on the front stand. I have 2ft or so behind the wall :). Doing Stereo Integrity 18s now as the UM18 got pushed further back.

A bunch of old names were "banned" in the forum upgrade. I forget why, seems like something got botched to me but whatever. They weren't really banned, though. It was just how inactive accounts got handled.

If you want your old account back, send a PM to @KennethSwauger and he can get you straightened out.

Just got my id back. Thank you @KennethSwauger

I am simply amazed how well these 707 are, just timing off airplay on my 3020. Can’t wait to get an amp and calibrated. My 7 piece openbox set from adorama was all brand new in box, not a single scratch.

Progress is being made. Installed subs today and they make your throat rattle. Now to hook up the speakers, paint some baseboard and install acoustic panels I built. fzchm1zsfhpi.jpeg

Thoughts on a low hr used parasound 5125 for 900 vs a emotiva xpa 5 3rd gen for 1300
