You can use a LCR meter but a multi meter does not tell the whole story

    i see this.

and in my findings from the last post i see the difficulties of getting the inductance and the resistance measured out of a inductor.

life just never can be that easy eh?

I need x overs for a pair of empty AR2ax speaker boxes. Can you build a X over from a hand drawn schematic? It's a simple x over with two caps. I can do the job but my schematic reading is lacking.

    hey Vr3

you used any of the radio shack soder guns and irons?

    are they alright?

i still have my mac tools gun but that is a bit bulky and clumsy for x over work.

    thanks sir.

    FWIW --

I would be able to offer a 24-48 hour turn around time on SDA CRS+ using the following parts

    Tweeter - Clarity Cap SA
    Midbass - Clarity Cap PX
I am assuming it is the "SDA" part of the crossover - Solen
    Resistors - Mundorf
Insulated binding post change out -

Basically you send me your crossover boards and terminal cup - and I will send you a pre modded board the next business day after yours arrives...

I can do this until no more members want their crossovers modded... lol

Anyone in the ready on a CRS+ - the next set will be ESA on the tweeter as the SA was OOS

I could also offer this deal to someone with RT35i and CRS originals with dual tweeters as long as I was given time to get the parts in before you shipped them :)

    Thats alot of work man!

Gotta cut the bread board, fit the components the best way, find the best way to run wire...

That also includes changing out post, etc etc

    Yep!

I really like the method I came up with as it keeps it clean but the first one always goes rough as you get the feel for how it will go together as everyone is different! :)

I have not modified one - would not be a problem.

I think it would be worth but dont go overboard.

Clarity Cap PX, Dayton, Solen - keep it inexpensive. Definitely would be better than stock parts

Depends on how much the individual is spending (trying to keep cost reasonable) - I now offer generic wire (14 awg) and DH Labs silver plated copper 20 gauge

The DH Labs is an incredible sounding wire gauge aside - I really like it and it is super easy to run in speakers and in crossovers... For internal wiring with DH Labs if we use the 20 gauge I will double the runs for the midbass drivers and use single runs on the tweeter

If someone wants to go crazy - DH Labs T-14 is awesome but it is almost double the price of what I use now after you factor in shipping...

If you want to go EVEN CRAZIER!

The Q-10 is awesome at 16 a ft

I am currently using the following in my HT.
    VM20 for a center
    TSi-400 for front towers
    TSi-200 for surrounds
    VM10's for rear surrounds
    All Polk
Sub is a Velodyne (I modded myself)
Rear sub I custom built recently.

Question 1 If you were going to mod the TSi400 or 200's X-overs what
would you change? Just Quality of components?

Question 2 If you were going to upgrade the tweeters from the factory 1"
Silk Domes which tweeter would you reconmend in the $50 to $75 range.
(I burned one up playing around with BI-AMPING) (also factory ones are a special shape....not round)

Yep we would use nicer components to obtain better sound quality.

I do not recommend changing the tweeter to anything other than what Polk uses

I may try barking up your tree again in a few weeks.
Just finished putting together my budget system and want to see how it sounds first before i start changing anything else. I haven't even turned it on yet. I know the A5's a little bright but we'll see how it sounds on the new (to me) Anthem gear. Stay Tuned
In the mean time, i'll pull a x-over before i hook everything up and see what we're dealing with. I'll send you photos...
