Born To Run would be my first choice. Followed by Mr. Soul as
    a very close second.

All great songs mentioned earlier by the way. Saw Mick play Sympathy for the Devil from the 10th row once. Still etched in my mind.

    +1 on the Montrose:D

Curt, if you haven't listened to it yet, be sure to check out the live version of "Bring it on Home", the last song on Disc 3 of HTWWW. There's a great section of interplay between Plant on harmonica, Bonzo on drums and Page on guitar where they are kind of dueling with one another in a completely improvisational and very bluesy and jazzy manner (from the 3min 50sec mark to the 7min mark) Probably one of my favorite rock moments (alongside that funky jam that comprises the last 4 minutes of "Echoes (Part I)" on Pink Floyd's Live at Pompeii DVD.

I'm hoping Led Zeppelin will eventually release the counterpart of the '72 LA and Long Beach shows captured on HTWWW with a live CD entitled "How the East is Won," covering the Oosaka and Tokyo shows from Sept. 1971 one day.

No, I haven't checked out all of HTWWW yet...I might have to throw it in the cue for tonight. I'll have to check out Bring it on Home...That's an excellent song.

Agreed on Echoes as well. The Pompeii version is the best version I've ever heard...and I've got just about every recorded version of that song you can have. Echoes is by a wide margin my favorite Floyd song...and is definitely one of my favorite songs of all time. Despite that though...DSOTM is my favorite Floyd album. Followed closely by Meddle.
Usually when the radio stations do their Memorial Day count down to the greatest all time Rock song, Stairway to Heaven is most times the winner. It is a great song but ssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooo played out that I have trouble listening to even on my 200 gm Classic Records pressing of LZ IV.

Agreed. I love Zeppelin...but I can't even listen to Stairway. I've heard that freakin song so many times...that I just skip over it most times. There are MUCH MUCH better Zeppelin songs than Stairway. Good song...but extremely over rated IMO.

If we are breaking down rock bands by decades I will vote for Godsmack for the 2000's. That is one kick **** band. Even the marines use their songs on there commercials.

If by "kick ****", you mean "the band who tried too hard to sound like Alice In Chains", then yes, I agree. All of their songs sound the same to me. My $.02

If we're going be decade, Tool gets my vote for the 2000's...and by a very wide margin.

how cool would it be if someone here complied about 20 to 25 of the top songs listed here and made a burned CD of all those songs.. and gave away say.. 20 of them? that would be incredible if someone wanted to do something nice for the group. ;)

Yeah, Elvis' Sun Sessions stuff is by far my favorite. Mystery Train, Blue Moon of Kentucky and Blue Moon come to mind immediately. Although Blue Moon is not rockin' it is definately a "moody" song and excellent.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....
