For me the Olympics lost some of it's punch when the Soviet Union fell.

At least we don't have to see the East German women's bobsled team in once-piece speed suits!

I don't know why they could not have seen this as being dangerous from the start... what a **** design and a horrible way to die.

Agreed I also feel it was a very bad design, and wonder why they didn't see that coming.

I thought the Opening Ceremonies had its ups and downs. That chick did a horrendous job of O' Canada at the beginning. The prarie scene was boring as hell. Epic fail on the blown hydraulics of the torch. (Steve Nash's fixed smile with shifty eyes as if to say "what do we do now" was priceless)

Overall, not bad. Very good for a winter olympics opening (the summer openings are always better). Hopefully some good cold weather hits soon.

I am fan of the Olympics. I will watch all of it. You see sports that are not shown every week or every month. You see athletes that have day jobs and this is a big deal to them. Most pro athletes are overpaid and some pro sports are not exciting until the playoffs.

Love watching the Olympics - esp. Winter Games - I dig the ski jumping, downhill, bobsled - all cool.

Best of luck to all the athletes!

Yeah I don't get the biathlon thing

Biathlon comes from the Scandanavian countries where in the old days they would ski and shoot a deer for meat.

On another note.....Canada has finally won a Gold medal on it's own soil!!! Go Canada go!!!

Yeah, i see some of them now... i guess i'm just a little miffed that they show like 30 minutes of the men's downhill, but eleventy billion hours of figure skating (everyone **** up the jumps. EVERYONE.) and cross country skiing.

But yeah, i know the screwed up schedule had something to do with it. Oh well.

Can't wait for CURLING HELL YES!!!!

That second place pairs skating team last night (Ping Tong) were awesome. I was up until after midnight, had nothing to do, so check it out. It was an awesome flawless performance...took them from 4th to 2nd - and almost first.

I personally can't wait for the Hockey to start, as well as the solo figure skating. Those are my favorites.

Yeah, despite my bitching, i've watched EVERYTHING broadcast so far. The second place team did impress me, but i guess i'm just not really a fan in general. Oh well.

The downhill coverage sucked big time. The course was definitely exciting enough to warrant showing a half dozen more skiers. On the other hand the short track skating they've done a great job on. Go figure.........

I personally felt the course itself was a bit tame... i wouldn't have hesitated to ski that full-tilt myself. What DID make it exciting was the completely awful conditions. You could hear it. :p That was ALL ice and slush.
