So your wondering about Power Cords?

There was just recently a thread on power cords and it quickly grew to 5 pages worth of people arguing both sides of the issue. I know there are people curious, but not really knowing if it could make a difference (especially in their system).

Thats where I come in.

I have a 6' signal cable power cord that I am willing to send to any club polk member (who is not on my ignore list ) with more than 50 posts....

Only requirements are that you give it a shot and see if you like it, post a review (as short as thumbs up or down is fine) and then after a week or two - send it to the next person on the list.

Reading reviews (and then posting opinions based on what you read) is one thing, but this is a chance for you to try it out in your system with your own ears at the cost of shipping it to the next person. (I will pay to ship to the first person)

Put your ears where your mouth is.

But that would mean giving up the safe snuggly blanket of links of 'truth' and venturing out to experience the world for themselves.....:p

I'm game, put me in line please.

If I only add a single high quality power cord to my system, to which component should I connect it in order to hear the most difference? My sig lists my system.

Most seem to think in roughly this order...

    Power center or conditioner.
    Amp
    Sub
    preamp
    source

While you have it though - I encourage you to try it with a few different components.

I will PM next in line when it is getting close to get your address and phone number - that should help save my inbox from becoming overfull to quickly.. :p

Right now it looks like you are third in line behind noosh.

Crap - now that you say that - my 6' cord is a digital reference power cord I think.....

Oh well - I know my sub has a magic cable (only 3' though I think). I will throw both in the box and that way there will be a couple to test with....

At this point - not looking for what is best, just do you hear a difference.

I say the opposite for the Signal digital cord.

When I made the list, I forgot it was a digital cord.... :D

I am sending both to demo though - the short, thick one is the magic cord. (just so everyone knows)

You assume correctly - both cables have 15a ends.

Now this is another reason I love this forum. Kudos to you McLoki ;).

I said before I was a skeptic on speaker cables but I heard a difference when I switched them twice. I don't have a switchable cord , otherwise I'd be on this study.

I can't wait for your results. I'm sure they'll be honest.

That was my experience too - I did my own direct comparison of cheapo rca cables and a set of AQ Sidewinders for my phono and then my CDP.

As a skeptic - I seriously doubted any difference at all - the first words out of my mouth after swapping out the cables during my own test were "No f*kin' way!!"

have tight clean bass. A great p.c. for the Money.

Not in.I got the digital reference cord off of audiogon a few days ago and it blew away my DIY DH labs powerplus with expensive silverplated plugs.
I put the DH on preamp duty and the digital reference on my dragon pro 2.
No-more expensive silver plugs for me.I think Ill just get more of franks digital cords for my DAC and transport too.
They look a lot like the crump design..

I agree with your recommendation of source first. However, I noticed a definite improvement with my preamp and amp with an after market power cord and more so after it burned in. Definite decrease in the noise floor and the instruments and vocals were coming out of almost pure blackness.

If it is not to late I would like to try this. Power cables are the last thing I have not yet tweaked, or even tried. I know just the company with off-the-wall power cable designs, but have not yet convinced myself to buy 6 power cables.
