No, but yes at the same time, lol...

I've used the XPA-1s for the front as well as an XPA-3. To me sonically there was not much of a difference to justify for me to spend the extra money. I would say you would be fine with the XPA-2. Also I wouldn't worry about clipping with the amp as you'll have more than enough volume to go. as well as the RTI are pretty efficent at 90db so unless your in a stadium I think you'll be ok.
and hell if your looking to buy a pair of XPA ones I still got mine if you would be interested. -

Haha, i can appreciate that. But seriously. If i can bring the house down powering a setup just off a receiver...I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Have you taken cooling into consideration? Stacking multiple separate amps in a rack can potentially cause heat buildup if you don't have good ventilation. A single multi-channel separate amp for HT is more than adequate in most situations. I'd go with a 3, 5 or 7 channel amp depending on your current and future requirements.____________________________________________________________

Hey thanks for the offer but I am just super anal about new or used stuff so I think I'm just gonna stick to new for now. On another note, just called Emotiva, the XPA-5 doesn't ship for about 2 weeks but they got the 2 XPA-1's in stock, the salesman said he would talk to his manager about getting an XPA-2 to demo if I buy the 2 XPA-1's now and I can return the XPA-1's if I don't think I need 'em and keep the XPA-2 and he will refund me the difference. Said he would get back to me by the end of the day. Hmmmmmmm, Do I piss the wife off or don't I?????????? -

The common HT motto I have always heard was that it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission. -

Heat is not an issue, got a seperate cooling system in gear room I just built. Should be adequate. -

Its all good, still have 3 years or so left on the warranty. I just want to move my stuff in a different direction. -

Yeah I hear ya, my 2 channel Mcintosh / Monitor Audio system has been collecting dust for awhile now. Finally just sold it all and ended my stint with 2 channel systems. Might get another one some day when I get a bigger house. -

what were you using for Mac's? I love their sound and would like to obtain some at some point. I personally love the 501's mono blocks. Just don't have enough coin to cover that amount right now. -

Had a pair of Monitor Audio PL200's, a Macintosh C220 Tube Pre-Amp , a Macintosh MC2102 Tube Amp, and a NAD M5 cd player. The wife gave me a choice, keep it or sell it and build a theater. Chose the latter. I really did like the Mac stuff though. Very, very warm sound... -
UPDATE!!! Hey everyone. I bit the bullet and just purchased x2 XPA-1's and an XPA-5, they are also sending me an XPA-2 to demo. They said to try it and if I like it to send back the 2 XPA-1's. My XPA-5 won't be here for about 2 weeks though so I gotta send the XPA-2 or the XPA-1's back before they ship it.

Oh I definitly will let ya guys know. Another quick question to anyone that may know. Have any of you guys ever had any experience with the Emotiva X-Series Balanced XLR cables? I ordered some with my amp purchase and was curious if I should just spend the money on something else like kimber kable or audioquest cables instead?

I only know one person that's used any of the Emo cables, and i don't think he had a particularly good experience with them. Caused interference with Emo amps, go figure.
Can't hurt to try them, though.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I wonder if Emotiva can do anything right?!
Shut the hell up. I made it clear that that was the only feedback that i knew of, period, and wasn't even my own personal opinion, since i really have none. Which, you know, is why i told him to try it and see, since i personally couldn't add anything to the question at hand.
Stop trying to make everything i/we say into an agenda against Emotiva.
That all said, i stand by Audioquest products. But i also got lucky and didn't try many cables before i found something i was happy with. Monoprice, Ben's Silvers, Sidewinders, to Scarlet Vipers, and i'm done upgrading for quite some time.
If you're referring to the "go figure" that i tagged on the end, it was simply to illustrate the irony at hand, not as a jab.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I like choice 2.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I am not using the balanced XLR but I have compared the X-Series unbalanced RCA against BlueJeans. I liked the Emo's better. I had issues with the BJC cables that was inconsistent but have never had that issue re-appear since the Emo's were installed.

drapture81 wrote: »Ha, Ha, I wish... Hey, how do you like them JLaudio subs. Heard a demo of them at Cedia in 08 and almost wet myself!
The JL's are the finest sub I've owned. I moved a REL Brittania B1 to my HT since it was so hard to blend with the Martin Logan's. The JL's have so many adjustments available it was a relative snap to get them on line.
They can do boom or finesse a double bass, your choice. I prefer the finesse of the double bass and feel the stings vibrate. Very exquisite when listening to small ensembles. To me they were worth saving for.

I don't care for the fact that the speaker hookups are 13" apart on the XPA1. If you have a fairly decent wire, you're going to have to split it to reach. To some it may not matter, to some it may.

Even though I've used WireWorld cables, I've always believed that the Mogami Gold XLR's from the Guitar Center are one of the best all around XLR cables available. It is a very nice, accurate and inexpensive cable and a very good starting point if you believe in the benefit of cables.

They are worth giving up your eye teeth for! Save, and don't buy anything until you have them, they are that fine if you like the McIntosh sound. I know I did. The 1.2K's are next on the list if I can get it past the war department!

Do you run your speakers full range? I noticed a huge difference in detail and dynamics ans bass at lower volumes with the xpa-1's. I sold them then used the xpa-3 and felt something was missing. Keep in mind I am not running a sub now. I think Next time if I stick with emotiva Ill get the xpa-2 and a good sub or subs for the price of 2 xpa-1's. But right now Im back in an apartment so subs are kind of out of the question unless i want kicked out. -
You dont own polk or Emotiva so why you even in the conversation. Looks like your sig shows better stuff than what we are talking about. You should be in the higher class forums. Wherever they are.
Not trying to start a shitstorm... I'm genuinely curious here:

Hey bub, good point. However I don't see how having high end gear excludes anyone from participating in this discussion or for that matter be a member of this club. -

Oh i definitely agree with you, and that's why i'm still here, because i can file away what you all say for future use.
But for the moment, i'll focus on getting everything else to the same level as my pre, since i'm not real sure that my $75 amp and $100 pair of speakers are doing it justice.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

At the time I made that statement. Your sig was not showing anything. I could not even see my own sig or anyones. No worries. No shitstorm getting started. So I made a blind guess that ou had high end stuff.. Its my bad. Sorry.
