Emotiva amp question to power Rti A speakers?

Selkec - I would suggest this be the last time we go thru this Emotiva crap. I've asked everyone to chill the hell out and you should take this advice as well. Who cares? It's just an amp.
Lol I can chill. But I know for a fact the emoette bashing will continue on. Why not just ban all Emotiva talk on this forum. Then everyone can be happy. -

It's already covered in the rules, it's simply been tolerated over the years. It's an almost zero tolerance issue at this point, I'm sick of reading it, sick of seeing the not funny quip and tag and Patrick is sick of reading the complaints.

I kinda figured he was with that many posts. Thats why I apologized and offered he idea of no Emotiva talk or. Maybe stop the use of the term Emoette. Or does everyone that supports their brand get a nickname?
Just asking? -

Doesn't Polk users have the nickname Polkies? I've seen that term thrown around in a a lot of places. I'm sure other brands may have their own, too. -

Polkie sounds better to me than emoette. Emoette sounds female. lol Maybe change it to emoites or something. Just an idea. Lets all just be friends and learn from each others experiences.

So you own carver. Man I remember years ago my friend had some carver amps. Hooked to four cerwin vega at-15's. It was like being at a rock concert. I know cerwin vega is not the best but man it rocked for parties. Carver was my first experience with seperates. -

Sweet another basher. You all are nuts.
That's not bashing dude. I don't see why you would subject yourself to something that sucks so bad for the length of time to make 122 posts.
Again, i don't bash Emotiva the company. I think they're a good way to get an introduction into separates. I just wasn't impressed with what i've tried from them so far compared to my existing gear. That's all. Doesn't make it a bad product.
But then again, i don't currently own Emotiva or Polk, so i guess my opinion is null and void, yes?I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

why are you even here. You dont own polk or Emotiva so why you even in the conversation. Looks like your sig shows better stuff than what we are talking about. You should be in the higher class forums. Wherever they are.
Because i have owned Polk speakers. Quite a few of them, and will again. Because i have had Emotiva gear in the mix, a few of them, and probably won't again.
Because this forum is full of all kinds of people that have the experiences that i lack, therefor, is full of information that i can use, and contribute when i have the chance. There's a large population here that don't even run Polks anymore.selkec wrote:F%^& YOU and you calling people EMOETTES and whatever else you all call smart people that spend money wisely. LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm afraid you have chosen the same hobby. BUT: If all amps sound the same, and you can't hear a $3000 difference, then you certainly can't hear a mere $700 difference. So... you should buy old used Onkyo/Adcom amps instead of Emotiva, since there isn't a difference. See what i did there?

Guess i should have read the whole thing before i triple posted. Arg.
Anyways.....OK. I admit I was out of line. And I apologize. Sorry to all I offended or name called. I guess since Emo was my first experience with real seperates then thats why I like them. If some of you guys that know alot about amps would pm me and give me some advise on what I need to look for that makes one amp better than other ill gladly take it all in. And maybe Ill move from the Emoette club. I would love to learn more. Thats what the forums are for, right?
You don't need to LOOK for anything. LISTEN. That's what the hobby is about, isn't it?
You're more than welcome to stop by here and take a listen, and we can talk shop, and i'll let you know what i heard with the Emotiva gear on my system without being negative about it, and we'll go from there.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I fit the same description. I used to own a Polk RTi/CSi/FXi setup but have since upgraded to a B&W 800 Series speaker setup.concealer404 wrote: »You don't need to LOOK for anything. LISTEN. That's what the hobby is about, isn't it?

Isn't that the truth!!!
This is the biggest issue I have with the 'science' folks who need to see a difference in the numbers before believing something sounds 'better' or 'different.'
BTW, I'm sure I could search through your posts, but I'd be interested in hearing what you heard or did not hear when you tried out the Emotiva product(s). I've compared the built-in Denon amp on my receiver, the Rotel RB-1575, and the Emotiva XPA-5. IMO, the Rotel and Emotiva sounded so similar, I could not justify the 4x price tag. I have not heard Classe in my home, but I have hear them A/B'd in a show room (which I'm not a big fan for demoing stuff), but felt things just opened up. Things were just clearer and more defined. not that I think my Emotiva is not detailed. Comparatively speaking, it is a night and day experience from a receiver. This is why I think so many people new to separates and try Emotiva love them so much. They are a great bang for buck device in that regards.
Will I ever do a head-to-head shoot out between a $1000 Emotiva XPA and a $4000 Classe amp? Probably not, but I think the Classe would win, but how much is anyones guess. It could be close, just as my comparison with Rotel. There were slight tonal changes but not clarity. I chose the one that sounded better to me (and my pocket book).
Well, this was a long winded response and maybe way off topic for this thread. So I apologize to the OP and I'll glad delete any of the message if you deem it un related to the thread topic. -
OK, so now that my very first thread has created a gigantic pissing match, I need a vote because I wanna order this stuff this weekend because I'm getting antsy looking at all these speakers sitting in there boxes.
The speakers / x2 RTI A9's, x1 CSI A6, and x4 FXI A6's
The pre/pro / Onkyo PR-SC5507P
The choices of amp combinations I need an opinion on...
Choice 1
-x2 XPA-1's for the fronts (500watts rms @8ohm to each speaker), and x1 XPA-5 for the center and surrounds (200watts rms @8ohm to each speaker).
Choice 2
-x1 XPA-2 for the fronts (250watts rms @8ohm to each speaker), and x1 XPA-5 for the center and surrounds (200watts rms @8ohm to each speaker).
Choice 3
-x1 XPA-3 for the fronts and center (200watts rms @8ohm to each speaker), and x2 UPA-2's for the surrounds (125watts rms @8ohm to each speaker).
Please give me advice on these and if you can think of any other combination of Emotiva amps to run my 7.1 please let me know. Sorry to create all of the bad vibes in here but I have decided I am only buying Emotiva amps to power these speakers. My reasons are that I usually only buy HT gear new, and I do already and have owned high end equipment (Sunfire, Rotel, B&W, Mcintosh, Carver, etc) in my 2 channel systems and this is my first dive into seperates for a HT setup. I have a friend that has some RTI A9's in his HT setup and that's what made me want to go with them and I based my whole system around it. I can afford a $20,000 head to toe system right now. I can't afford a $50,000 head to toe system right now and that's why I have chosen Emotiva, it falls in that $20,000 realm, along with the Polk. Which are my first polks ever purchased I might add. So please opinions only, no more dick measuring... -
Choice 2
I think any of the 3 options will provide more than enough power so balance it in the middle. -
Whichever of the three is cheapest. They will all be perfectly adequate for HT use. The 1st option is overkill in my opinion, but if you want to spend the money, then go for it.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I had XPA-5 and powering LSi15, LSiC and Monitor 50 at one time....It did sound better when XPA-5 was only powering LSi15's....for the price of new amps, Emotiva amps are great bang for the buck...
since you can afford XPA-1 or 2 and XPA-5, I would go with Choice 1...you can always return amps if you don't like it within 30 days...but if you do decide change amps within 30 days, they will take care of that too...
I sold my XPA-5 for almost what I paid to a local buyer....Video: LG 55LN5100/Samsung LNT4065F

Option 2 from me as well. I don't think the XPA-1's will live up to your expectations with your speakers.
They offer the cool factor, but performance wise for an HT setup, they will give you zero benefit. -
Option 2 is probably the best bang for your buck. Even though option 3 is cheaper. The xpa series has more headroom with the extra power. Are you running a sub of any kind? I found with the xpa-1's I had no need for a sub and only reason I have the little psw111 is because frys gave it to me for free when I bought the rtia9's. The xpa-1's really brought out the bass. In my system at least. Yours could be differernt. Now for option 3 you could substitute the 2 upa-2's with a upa-5 and save another $50 and vahe an extra channel. Or even try just an xpa-5 and use your reciever for the last 2 surrounds.
-
Two XPA-5's.
Now with this option alot of guys run also and will biamp the towers in front 2 or 3 and you will still have enough channels for all the surrounds. They bi amp in a left/right config. Alot of options out there for you. good luck. -

Yeah, I'm thinking about getting x2 DSW Pro600's. 7.2 channel pre/pro, might as well use it!
Next question then as far as just using the XPA-2 for the fronts, shouldn't I worry about clipping with underpowering the speakers. P.S. - I'm not bi-wiring anything! BAD Experience with this... -

If you get a clip on those speakers from underpowering with XPA-2s, along with the rest of your HT at the same volume level, clipping will be the least of your worries. Permanent hearing damage would be at the top of the list of worries.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Really, the XPA-3 idea would still be plenty for an HT setting. Think about it... you're going to have 7 speakers, and two subwoofers in your case. Do you really need 110db firing out of ALL OF THEM?I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.
