Hmmm, sounds like my first post might have raised a few eyebrows? LOL!!! Anywho, commenting on your earlier post, the only reason I decided to go for the XPA-1 was, (1) I definetely think there a good compliment for the range of quality with polk, and (2) because they each match the power of the RTI A9's wattage RMS. Would the XPA-2 by itself be an issue with under powering the fronts? If not then I might as well as go with an XPA-3 for the x2 RTI A9's and the CSI A6, and x2 UPA-2's for the x4 FXi A6 surrounds. Comments???

Not a bad way to go actually. Some here have heard that combination and consider the Emo too bright and harsh sounding with the Polks. A bit of research on the forum will lead you to making the right call.

The Emo amps are just as good as the overpriced 3000-5000 amps.

They are the same exact thing.

They both run on the same gas, have tires, and get you from point "A" to "B"... they even have the same gas pedals that stick to the floor.

If you go with a multi-amp setup, you need to look at what you do most. Do you listen to 2-channel music more or watch TV/movies more.

If you listen to 2-channel music, then I would suggest a 2-channel amp for your fronts and a 3-channel amp to compliment the rest. Since you are looking at Emotiva, then you would put the XPA-2 on the fronts and the XPA-3 on the center and surrounds. I agree that the XPA-1's may be over kill, but they sure would look cool in a setup. :D

I've personally compared the Emotiva XPA-5 to the Rotel 1575. I personally did not hear any difference to warrant the price difference. Therefore, I kept the Emotiva. Now, I almost pulled the trigger on a pair of Classe CAM-350 monoblocks last night, but since my dishwasher bit the dust and the wife wants to remodel the laundry room with a new washer and dryer. I had to pass.

I plan on moving to Classe one day, but for now, I plan on enjoying my Emotiva amp.

Sorry about the tangent. Back on topic of your question.

If movies and TV are your main interest, then the XPA-5 would be your best choice. Other entry level amps that are new (some are hesitant on used gear due to warranty and unknown abuse) are Outlaw, Onkyo, and NAD. As other have mentioned, if you shop around, you could find some very nice amps for a decent price on the second hand market.

I found that the Emotiva speakers power the Polk LSi, RTi and Monitor series nicely.

Just a question... How does one speaker provide power for another?:rolleyes:

Sorry to hear about your hand but you need to take a break and step away from the keyboard for a while. Go grab a snack or get a drink. I feel you are being too sensitive and the antagonist here.

So what if he doesn't CURRENTLY own them. You don't know his history. Maybe he has owned Polks in the past and is very knowledgeable.

where the hell did that come from? I did not every say you were rich, and I never called you a name.
nobody was talking trash until you showed up starting it. I took the high ground in my first response to you and will do the same here. Soory you lost your gear for surgery. I lost most of mine, including TWO Sunfire Cinema Grand Signature 7x400's so I could pay bills from 9 months of unemployment so I can sympathize with your loss.

All I did was offer helpful and accurate advice. If that offends... oh well. I never called you an Emoette. I asked you to stop acting LIKE one. I said the choice was yours.

Oh my. So much going on, so much sensitivity, so much negativity, so much hate. I enjoy audio as well as HT, I also enjoy experimenting with different things whether it be name brands, high dollars or not. I believe that if I happen across something that I believe is great, I keep and do. I do not need to justify, more importantly I do not need anyone to justify what I just justified. Can life not be that simple? Accept what you accept and let others accept what they accept, round and round life goes. There will never be a winner in this argument if you live by the concept of others........

Dude, lighten up a bit. If you don't like a thread, don't read it. It has to be obvious to you that CP is not a love-fest like the Emo lounge. That's cool because you can get many opinions here from entry level to high end and isn't that what these boards are for?

I'm one of the folks with what may be considered hi-end gear. Do you think this is the first gear I've ever bought? No, I started with gear way less expensive than most of the guys here. I've moved up the chain bit by bit, and when asked, I offer my opinion.

If some of you guys that know alot about amps would pm me and give me some advise on what I need to look for that makes one amp better than other ill gladly take it all in. And maybe Ill move from the Emoette club. I would love to learn more. Thats what the forums are for, right?
