one suggestion for listening to different rigs... listen to only one rig at a time.

I've been to a few gatherings (non Polk) and in a large room with two, three or more systems playing at the same time.. makes for an annoying time trying to listen to the rig everyone is interested in.

something else to toss out there.. anyone want to grab a burger/food/beer after the get together?

so is the date of Feb 21 set?

Feb is tough for me to get away.... early March is better. but I know that's quite a ways out.. so I'll go with whatever the date that everyone agrees on.

Yup, Sunday Feb 21 from 1-6pm is official. If you guys want to do a catered dinner for a small amount, I can have our chef put something together based upon input (burgers, sandwiches, stir-fry, whatever). I can probably provide some snacks and drinks for the afternoon. :)

I emailed Geoff and he said he is coming.

BTW: regarding the food topic, I was thinking appetizers would be nice, or 'finger food', although not something too messy...cuz, well you know...

I can dig that with the appetizers. Do you guys want me to talk to my chef, or provide it ourselves?

I for vote for the "chef' thing. if it wouldn't be too much, and would take less coordination.

I might be willing to make it a road trip...I live around 30 miles south of Portland, so it's not exactly "next door" for me. Anyone know how far away this is going to be from Portland?

    Hey Ryan,

I am thinking about going to the meet (assuming this is OK with everyone) and was wondering if we could car pool (I live in Salem). i could drive up to where you are and go from there. Would that be OK? It's fine if this is a problem. I will see if I will actually be able to go though as things are up in the air at this point. Oh, and I could bring my Aragon 8008bb amp to add to the fray.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

So, do we have a consensus on the date?

And I might bring my DSW Pro 600, just to see what it can do with a REAL amp/receiver powering it.

Correct. Sunday Feb. 21 from at 1:00pm.

I'm going to talk to my chef today about snacks and drinks for the event. If we can start to get a headcount, then I can get an estimate charge for food.

If people want to PM me that they are coming, I can make list.

I'm also going to throw a blu-ray in my bag incase we want to go that direction at some point. :D

I just talked to my chef, and for $5 a head he can provide sodas/coffee/water, fruit/veggie trays, cheese/cracker trays, and shrimp. I thought that sounded like a good afternoon snack for a fair price.

sounds like a good deal. I am going to try and make it.. only thing that would stop me is the pass being closed or to much snow for my little car to plow through it. so count me in as a maybe for now.

I think that is a great deal...we can always go out for steaks after....
plus steaks don't really make for very good 'finger food'....
and I sure don't wanna have that grease on my stuff....hehe

As far as gear goes, I'll bring:

    Forte 1A amplifier

Skywire SE XLR, Neko Audio XLR

Luminous Audio Renaissance II RCA, Cardas Crosslink RCA, Esoteric E7 RCA

Skywire SE speaker cables, Esoteric E7 speaker cables

Monoprice Premium Toslink cable, Cardas Digital Data Cable-BNC (if anyone has BNC)

Matrix mini-i Balanced DAC/Preamp, Luminous Audio Axiom preamp

A pair of speakers stands if needed

I may have some other goodies, and maybe getting a fun pair of speakers in before then also...

Some interesting stuff there, hell I don't even know what 1/2 of it is:D
My gear is pretty mid-fi at best. The OP of this thread mentioned he had LS70's and LS90's. I could bring my LS50's and we could demo the whole line-up. I can bring my SVS if anyone is interested. I've also got some RTA8T's in my office rig I could throw in the car too.
Oh and not to sound like the alcoholic of the bunch but can we bring some adult beverage?

As far as the speakers go, bring what you want, but just remember you have to lug it about 50 paces.

Back to the steak suggestion earlier, having catered alcohol would have been pricey. But if a few people want to bring adult drinks to share, game on. :D
