patience is a virtue. well the MF Kw SACD is on its way back today upgraded with the latest and greatest transport and board chips MF has, so the actual shootout can begin once it gets here, of course it made need to burn in a bit..........

as far as the Esoteric, well its a nice unit a DV-50, built to be the digital center piece of a 2-channel rig that also happens to do DVDA-DVD and multi, but its a two channel piece as far as the reviews go......so I have spent a bit of time with it, definetly hi-fi sound is what I will say for now, although it only takes a few notes to determine if its any good I like to take a while to let the "new" sound set in a bit before making a call on what I may like/dislike, a Polkie came by to take the Consonance player home for a date, he had a chance to hear the Esoteric Sacd section with the Boss, ended up getting lost for a while in the Rabbit Hole tunes and had to take the hit when he got home, oh well, one night on the couch is worth it........

so everbody be cool......enjoy the tunes........I am

yes there will be pics so stay tuned, you already know how sweet anticipation can be

Actually I didn't end up having to sleep on the couch afterall........but it did cost me. She was cool with it. She's starting to have a little bit of understanding for this "hobby" of mine. Especially when she can reap the benefits of it also.

All I can say is the Esoteric was one seriously good sounding source. I'm not going to spoil things before the official review, but damn that thing sure did sound nice! It's always an incredible experience getting lost in the Rabit Hole. I swear there's a warp in the time/space continuum in there.

The date went very well with the Consonance, looks like she's a keeper. I will call here shortly. Ted, you are the man! Cheers.

maybe if were talking boat anchor for the Queen Mary.........

its got a number of finely machined sharp edges, easy for someone to get CUT if you know what I mean.........there are things in the Rabbit Hole new Polkies should not touch, maybe even old Polkies might beware the darker places.........the time warp thing Dawg mentioned, there is something to that, sort of a Portal thing, but something definetly happens and its addicting......oh well, I have always made it out so far, but I do notice that I am going a bit daft from it........what if I went in and never came out..........I think I am actually always in and just think I am out........

Tubes in a cd player or at the end of the chain in any piece of equipment acting only as a buffer seems a waste to me.

I disagree Chuck. My Raysonic runs two tubes, class A in the player and it almost rivals vinyl.

I agree. Tubes in a CDP are a waste of money.

Anybody want to come on down (or up) as the case may be you can listen for yourself. I think a couple of Polkies are coming over Friday to help get things kicked off for the shootout. Well as long as the MF makes it here but fedex shows tomorrow......yea baby.

My audionote dac has a tube buffer too. I can't help but think I'd be better off without the extra stage since its not doing anything other than buffering and I have tubes downstream anyway. I guess if that was the only tube then it might offer something.
