Dude, do whatever it takes to get by. I'd rather you be a living dad to your girls, albeit 17hrs away than a dead one just minutes away.

Hep C is nothing to dick around with....so do what the Dr says. You may not like how he says it, but heed what he says.

    Good luck, man.

Sorry to hear about the cold doctor. I've run into a couple this year myself and frankly wanted to slap some sense into em.My pain was masked by my stamina also.I barely made it but I did too..

Is a trans-plant in your future?, or is the insurance issue a deterent from them willing to do one?

I wish you the BEST of what may come with your fighting through this!

Ben, a friend of mine with no issurance got a liver transplant and the state paid for all his medication and post treatment.

It is better to be were you need to be to get well than no longer alive for your girls.

You can always get better and move back. I am sure they had rather have you alive even if it meant only being able to write you emails, letters and phone calls.

Okay Pal, I know I just got off the phone with you but I want to reiterate. . . get to that welfare office ASAP and get on medicaid. If they won't give it to you then you need to get up to Connenicut where I'm sure you can get State treatment there. Me, Phyllisann and Joey pray for you several times a day.

Ben. Anything material can be replaced. Do what you have to do to stay alive. Be it interferon treatments or a transplant.

It's not a decision but a mandatory move. Go where you can get the treatment you need.

God bless and you are in my prayers.

I just wanted to let you folks know that I do not qualify for a transplant until my viral load is near nil. Once I get that down then I can go for the transplant if regeneration of my liver won't bring me back to decent levels. I have been drinking smoothies with Protein powder, and have found out from the Doc that is a big no no. It's veggies, some pasta, some chicken, and water for me. Even the water should not be in large amounts because it makes the kidneys and liver work to hard. The big problems is affording the labs. Office visits are a small amount. The prescriptions can be taken care of by the drug companies.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

I just caught your first post Ben... I know my advice is worth less than a Zimbabwean dollar, but I would go with ANY option that will give you whatever you need to spend as much time with your girls as possible. If that means treatment in Conneticut, get there as fast as you can brother. If you need a ride, I will happily volunteer to run a leg of that trip to get you there. Just do whatever it takes to walk those girls down the aisle someday...

Ben, if you do have to go to CT for treatment, could somebody ship your chickens to CA for me? After all, there's no point in leavin' them girls all alone in your yard with nobody to love 'n' hug 'em everyday, now is there?!

If anyone can beat this Ben, it would be you, Get closer to your family and get the help you need to get better. Sometimes being around family can be the best medicine there is. Those girls need you around, and I don't know what I would do if I didn't have my daughter, or sons or wife for that matter by my side if I was sick. Get better soon Ben, and if there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

If your family will ride you to take care of yourself, then go to CT. You may be a couple of good decisions away from getting back on track, or a couple of bad ones from going off the rails and out of service. Don't even make choices at this point, just listen, and do as you're told. Tough love? Tough ****! I've heard every excuse in the book, and authored a few myself, you don't have any left.

Well that was the first time I wanted to stay in the hospital. The pain was keeping me from sleeping so it was hard for me to have a clear head to explain to the Doc's what was going on. When I went in I thought I had kidney, and appendix issues. The big three issues were my gall bladder, liver, and spline. Not fun at all. Luckily I have no stones. I am one of those guy that doesn't shed a tear nearly no matter what when it comes to pain. I am certainly not one of those whining types. This crap sucked, and I don't think the Dr's understood how much pain I was in. A friend saw the charts and data(because I asked him to), and my liver is shot from having Hep-C for over twenty years. So now I have 3 opinions that my liver is way gone. I was getting a morphine shot every 2 hours, and 2 Vicodin 750's every 4-6 hours. I don't like the pills so I spread them out, and tried to take them as little as possible. This last Doc was pretty harsh, and he was way to cold about his answers, but he said basically I am a goner with no hope. He don't know me very well. I vent a little here and there, but I am not going to whine too much, or curl up in a ball. I have some issues that need to be attended to. I may have to get my treatment done in Ct. I can't imagine leaving my girls, but it has been a struggle trying to get help here. Also the treatment will leave me fairly shot out, and I would be supper dad while going through this. I really need prayers for direction. I watched my friend's dad die from CA and it is real hard. My girls are only 4 and 6. I just don't know what to do at this point. I think that I need to get more aggressive about getting treated here, but if I am still not making any headway I may move up toi be around family and friends. I live alone here, and the only family I have is 17hrs away.
    Thanks all for your support.
    Ben

This is no time for pride...definitely seek out your family...However I am not aware of any A #1 Hospitals in Connecticut...Normally if you can afford it you'd want to be at a TEACHING University Hospital that specializes in research on your condition....Example...when my mother had a benign but aggressive brain tumor that was paralyzing her we immediately set up an appointment at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital....Depending on where in Connecticut your options would by U. Hospitals in Boston or NYC.

I'd ask for references and check out Hospital Ratings...It can make a Big difference in your treatment and recovery...

Good luck...our thoughts are with you.....H-C is a tough thing to lick but it's not beyond your abilities....and those around you.

Ben, for your own sake and your daugthers, the decision making is quite simple as so many suggest. You need to move around your family and closest place for medical care. The fact is, it is in your heart to take care of your daughters but in order to do that you MUST take care of your self. As mentioned previously, you want the opportunity to walk your girls down the isle on their special day and the only way to do so is by taking good care of your self.

Still praying for you and the girls!

If we can get a pony express network together for speakers, can't we get a pony express network together to get Ben up to Conn.? I'd be willing to take a 4 hour leg meeting someone in Maryland and I can take him up to North Jersey or New York
