That meatball ought to get the **** kicked out of him for two things. Packing that thing like that, and then having the chutzpah to demand that you pay for return shipping.

The newb suck-up factor on this thread is pretty high too. Now THAT is something that is happening far too often.

    Boy, you ain't kiddin'!

It's gettin' to be unbearable. Certain thread I just don't click on anymore because I know it's going to be full of empty posts 'cause the bozo list is getting quite long.

Sad thing is that they talk to me like I can see or even care what they are saying.

I, for one, put great trust in most of the members here and would be shocked to receive something boxed in such thin cardboard...

I shipped a small sub to a friend on this site gratis at my expense so that he could help a friend of his set up a starter surround system..

Like Sal I used a lot of bubble tape but that was over the ORIGINAL BOX with its styrofoam inserts (the sub secure within it)...I wrapped that in bubble wrap then I got a few yards of carpet padding and wrapped that around the bubble wrap and put all of that in a second packing box and secured any loose space with more carpet padding!

Much like Curt said..you could've been the world's biggest cluts and had a really tough time damaging the sub. It arrived in perfect condition using the UPS from Maine to Florida.

Although I may have gone a bit far...I think that MOST of us would go to such extremes to protect a product--especially if we're sendinng it to another Polkie...In my case...at my own expense and for free!

So this is truly heinous behavior in my opinion. Disrespectful of our fellows..to say the least.

And honestly all for what.....$100 bucks? I'd spend +half that on shipping materials sent over 2-3 packages. I'm way too paranoid about shipping things out and stuff happening to them....I hated receiving stuff via usps while in Iraq like the package my cousin sent me for x-mas. He bought me a zune and sent it over since mine broke, he triple boxed that son-**** and it still came half-tore up/etc. Least the zune was in perfect shape :D

You've been here for four years. Do you think you still qualify as a newb? I'm talking about people who have been here a month to six months. Some have few posts, and some can't seem to tear themselves away from the keyboard.

That was a waste of a perfectly good box. Why not just throw a shipping label on the speaker? That way at least they see what it is and handle it better.

Very sad, this guy started with a positive rating from madmax... sad he didn't keep it that way  I hope Polk admin will rectify the seller's score pretty swiftly :(

Packaging is definitely horrible; doesn't show respect for either the buyer and Polk gear  people like this don't deserve to own any Polk gear.

Looking from afar (since it isn't viable for me to buy from the FM), maybe the amount of post necessary to sell in the CP's FM should be revised upward sustantially??? I don't think 25 posts is sufficient for CP Polkies to get to know who they are dealing with and a larger amount of posts might help keep people that join the forum with the sole intention of selling their goods here.

I hope the seller has the guts to acknowledge the OP on this discussion and that the problem gets resolved in the buyer's and CP's FM interest ASAP at is is also in his own interest!

    Good luck lukewayne!

++++ 1 million Mr. Grand, and yet another great post! You are such a credit to CP and it would not be the same without you IMO. If we had more like you here, we wouldn't have these problems at all. I don't know why Polk Audio won't give you the ban button so that you can keep things in order here. You are like a God to me and anyone who says otherwise will have to answer for it. Can I please add you to my friends list? Please, Sir!

This is starting to happen way to often with the Polk flea market. I say stick to e-Bay, which is a more liquid market, hence better prices. Plus they have a rating system so you know who the chumps are before dealing with them.

    Chris

I would rather buy on here then flea bay any day. If I can talk and see what people are saying about gear and talking to others it makes me trust them more than if its just some random person selling crap out of their basement on ebay. I've had trouble in the past with Ebay and don't trust them unless its like polk direct who is an acutal company. I am new here but trust these people far more and people here are not just trying to scam people just to make a buck. It seems its more of being supportive of each other and helping the fellow person out rather than just craping all over them. I will stick to my FM here as I enjoy what people are offering and the community that goes along with it.

Just to clarify, I wasn't trying to dissuade any successful methods/situation from the past. I totally agree with the outrage, so don't get me wrong - I would be fired up too....but with that said, I can't help be think of the legal ramifications of staging a field trip on the interweb and then showing up in person on this guys front porch and then it all somehow "goes south".

This has been discussed time and time again. I doubt anything is changing. Besides, post count does not correlate to trustworthyness in sales.

Why would a Polk admin have to do anything to rectify the seller's score?
I guess I am confused, how is then the rating taken to account? Does it have to come from the buyer? If so, then change admin to buyer! My point was that only rating that appears for this seller is 1 good rating from madmax... this can mis-lead other potential buyer (hwever, maybe the seller has vanished for good???)
This has been discussed time and time again. I doubt anything is changing. Besides, post count does not correlate to trustworthyness in sales.
Agreed, seems like that discussion popped-up in the past but never say never. Agreed that post count doesn't correlate with trustworthyness but post count allows Polkies to get to know each other more with time spent on the forum. The main concern is that people getting on the forum simply trying to baith Polkie or simply trying to get their post counts up for a quick sale will tend to go elsewhere rather than use CP for such. That would also give newb a break since they wouldn't have to go through the accusations/paranoya (which I am starting to understand a little more) that many long timer put them through if they feel their post count is going a little too fast for their taste.

It doesn't have to be post count as per say but could be a "combo of post + time in". Even if Polk doesn't want to do so, it could be one of those "un-written rule(s)" that were talked about not so long ago. If most of the community agrees not to buy from any Polkies until they meet such and such requirement as per community un-written rule... I think the community as a whole would gain from such. Just sayin, food for toughts...

    Cheers!

TK, just wanted to chime in that yes feedback does come from the buyer/seller. That member is also required to post what thread the deal took place in, and has the option to add further remarks if anyone wanted a full description of what had happened good or bad.
