The photos and the shipped speaker don't look the same. Polkie918 either used a set of photos from another center and the center shipped is not the one he displayed in his ad. The sale photos show clean speakers, not dirty, ratty, and scratched like the center that lukewayne got. I believe that this is a case of bait and switch. I can't see how a speaker would get that much damage even with poor packing.

If that's all the more effort you're going to put into packaging, i say why bother at all. Slap a shipping label to the speaker and be done with it.

Nothing but a complete refund is in order here. If Polktard918 wants his speaker shipped back he can pay for it himself. However I doubt that speaker will survive another trip in that POS box.

A few months back I sold a CSi5 for $150 here to another Polkie, the Bubble wrap cost me $25.00, I had 3" of bubble wrap all the way around the CSi5 and then I put into a heavy duty double walled box that cost me another $15.00 and then the shipping was $46 and that included $400 insurance.

So I sold it for $150 and paid $86 to ship it.

This goofball paid nothing to package it up, he probablly went into a McDonalds garbage bin to find the box!

PissHead918 should refund the whole amount and send money for the retun of his speaker if he wants it back!

I was the lucky recipient of that very well packed CSi5. Sal did a fantastic job packing it. That thing could have been shot out of a cannon from an airplane and been just fine.

This packing job though...I doubt it would survive even being lifted off of the floor.

I retract my previous statements about a refund minus shipping being fair...

A full refund, plus Polkie918 paying the return shipping sounds fair to me.

The obvious difference between you and the seller in this case is you actually care whether your item shows up undamaged and as the photos show when it was sold.

I almost always lose my **** on shipping. Packing in a decent manner costs money if you use new material, if the seller wanted to use old used packing material thats ok also but use enough to ensure a likely chance of survival.

I have bags full of used peanuts, foam wrap, corner protectors, chunks of foam med and high denisty all different sizes of boxes, bubble wrap etc that I have saved from past shipments to cut down on the cost of future shipments.

If you want to offer an item for a set price that includes shipping its not ok to just throw it in a box and call it good just to save money.

Buyer deserves a full refund including the shipping back costs and a few bucks for new packing material to ship it back and a public apology.

I have the shipper pack almost everything. That way I am not responsible for packing if a claim needs to be made.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.

    Horrible job packing imo.

To those that have had items shipped from me, they've all had nothing but great things to say. Who cares if it costs you some $ for packaging materials/boxes/etc. If you're looking to make profit, go to audiogon/ebay to sell stuff. Here we take care of each other, and what happened here was totally uncalled for.

I'm trying my best to read between the lines here, but I can't quite come up with the general consensus of the Forums' overall feelings towards the seller??

;) BTW, good luck resolving this!

There is very little worse than getting your new toy only to discover it is broken. A good rule of thumb is to pack like you would want the seller to pack if you were the buyer.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you :)

+1. I keep almost all boxes and packing material that I receive. It is important to use high density foam for packing heavy items and not just peanuts / bubble wrap. You need to keep the item from moving and shifting, and peanuts and wrap just don't do the job, although they are great for filling in the air gaps. It can cost a lot to do a good packing job, but it doesn't have to if you are willing to save packing materials from your prior purchases.

his packaging is so sad it makes me almost want to cry. To see the poor speaker in that condition now is inexcusable and just plain wrong. He needs to honor the original deal and refund the money. When people do this it just hurts the community and makes me wonder what is wrong with people seriously, its not that hard to take the time to ship something properly. If he couldn't do the job right then it should have been a local pick up only.

That's not good enough, I say draw and quarter him.

Actually, this is exactly the type of thing that'll make people gun shy about shopping in the FM, and that's that's the real shame here.

I hope this is made good.

This is the reason that I don't like shipping with usps, yes very poor job on packaging, but from what I understand with usps parcel post is that it is really never handled by a person until it gets delivered all machines. I had a postal employee tell me never to send anything of value that way to ensure that nothing gets damaged.

    Best regards

    Good luck getting this resolved

This is really not applicable here. With that packing job, and the weight of the speaker, it would have been damaged even by the very best handling of any carrier. You can't ship an item without packing material, period.

And if packaged appropriately, that speaker would have survived shipping via USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, or any other carrier. There's a correct way to pack something, and an incorrect way. The correct way will arrive in good shape every time, and the incorrect way will arrive damaged 80% of the time (the other 20% of the time you might get lucky).

USPS parcel post moves via FedEx. The USPS has a contract with FedEx to hand over parcels to them to move on their network and to use the available space on FedEx planes to move mail. I've had good luck with USPS parcel shipping since they starting utilizing the contract with FedEx. Not all USPS parcels get handed over, but any going any distance should.

This is starting to happen way to often with the Polk flea market. I say stick to e-Bay, which is a more liquid market, hence better prices. Plus they have a rating system so you know who the chumps are before dealing with them.

Total BS. The Club Polk FM has a 1,000+++++ times better sucess rate than ebay... I'll take my chances here over ebay any time.

There's a member sales rating here also. Obviously you would've known that if you bought or sold something. You can stick to eBay, I'll pass.

What completely untrue and dumbass remarks.

You seem to have a knack for stirring up the **** the word Troll comes to mind.

I suggest you stick to Ebay since you feel the prices are better and the people are more trustworthy. I myself will continue to deal with trusted members here.

Very seldom do you see deals on Ebay that are comparable to most here, as far as the rating system here goes it is no different than Ebay use common sense is all and 99.9% of the time things will go well.

If I have questions or doubts about a member all I have to do is ask one of the more senior members in the area that the seller is in to go check out the item and ship it to me if I feel I need to, try that on Ebay!

Actually one of the most memorable losers we had here sold Disneyjoe a item and screwed him he had 100% perfect feedback on Ebay of at least 400-500 positives.

Ah that box ain't so bad, take a look at this pack job (an ebay deal) with a single speaker in it:
Note the water stains (or urine??), and excessive tape. There are a few poke holes too.

The only thing I can say is that it was double boxed, ironically the inside box was "Commode Specimine Collector":

    CIMG9399.jpg

The crossover was damaged in this shipment, although I think the XO may have been damaged before it was put up for sale.
