Any deer hunters here?

In all seriousness it has been fun playing with you, but don't feed the wild animals.

Ciao Ben
Are you going to sleep tonight....I am in pain....why are you up? I don't particularly care what you do....you ARE. Can't and wouldn't want to change you. Its a balance in nature. Choose your side. Have Respect for youre opponents.
Challenge you to go to a jungle with a camera and record your experience with the natives. Make "CONTACT".
By the way....are you the BEN that does component painting? Nice work if so.
...Oh !!!! I have been making friends with critters for 5 years.....not a novice....read the books....thanks for the concern.
...Most outbreaks are DISTEMPER in the Raccoon clans....very similar to Rabbies without aggression. -

Again another post that has nothing to do with the topic. Really. WTH does going into the jungle have to do with anything here? I'm smart enough to stay out of the jungle;) You go into the jungle.
You don't care about what I do. I can tell:rolleyes:
You would change me if you could;)
Well you are boring so I am off to try and get a few hours of sleep.
Ben
Edit:Yes distemper is more prevalent than rabies. If you were educated on feeding wildlife you would have never given the coon bologna. Obviously you don't have an understanding of why it is wrong to feed wild animals. Who knows they are probably living under someones porch. Maybe some kid will think that the coons are friendly and try to get to close.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. A: You're not sorry for hijacking. Look how many post you have here:rolleyes:
B: It's called the clubhouse. A place to talk about things not audio related. Some people here actually enjoy hearing what others interests are besides audio.
C: I hope your shift key and your caps lock buttons fail.

dee, sorry for your pain hope it gets better soon. But this is the "Clubhouse" for areas of interests other than audio. You no longer care about or believe in hunting ok to each their own. But to come into a thread about deer hunting to make some of your comments, is kinda in bad taste IMO. I've grown up, and except for some time in the USAF have spent most of my life in the country. Growing up around farms we do have a different view. We see pets and livestock sometimes die at birth, get caught in flood waters, and even slaughtered for food. We are also if lucky enough to have good timing, there to help get them out of the life threatening situations when possible. We remove the road kill from in front of house because of the smell. Find the carcasses of the weak that did not make it through a tough winter. So basically we just learn that death is part of life. Cold but hard fact. We also learn that animals were put on earth for our use. Our eyes focus forward, we are predators.
As far as it being a sport, again I have to disagree IMHO. There is a certain amount of conditioning required to hunt and fish. Also eye and hand coordination to shoot/cast etc. There is the mental chess game of trying to out smart our competition. It sounds like you may have hunted at some time, so you must know it is not as easy as shooting urbanized coons on your porch. I also hunt with my camera during the off season as part of my scouting. The pure relaxing pleasure I get from trying to become one with nature and my surroundings, the smells, the beauty can not be replaced.
All my game is treated with respect with every effort made for a one shot clean humane end. Then enjoyed by me and my family at the dinner table and none of my "trophies" are adorned with hats and sunglasses like some side show freak. Talk about lack of respect........
Sportsman through the Pittman-Robertson Act of 1938 has raised over 5 billion dollars to be redirected to state wildlife programs that all, hunter and non hunter, can enjoy and benefit from.
I'll respect your choice to eat what you please and live as you please, but please afford me and others the same courtesy. -

...well a known fact... in any city - more HUMANs carry more AIDES than animals carry rabbies. Get in touch with reality. Don't try to justify. By the way...I built a house with friends on top of a mountain in W,Va, ....just us and our BB guns. But that was then....when men were men.....and did eat meat from the deli down the road apiece.
The World does not change overnight.....thats what my generation learned.
Are we humans or animals? -
I need to dig up the pictures from last falls pheasant hunt...I think we downed 260 of those "critters"

Hunting is not a sport. It's not about being macho or other nonsense. It's about understanding that you have to take life to continue your own. Even vegans have to do that (plants are living things too).
People eat their burgers and fried chicken and have no connection to the living being that died to feed them. That's disgusting in my mind. No respect for the life that sustains them.
I also read "The Omnivore's Dilemma" and it clearly spelled out that vegetarians use much more fossil fuels to support their "boutique" lifestyle. It is not a natural way to sustain yourself.SystemLuxman L-590AXII Integrated Amplifier|KEF Reference 1 Loudspeakers|PS Audio Directream Jr|Sansui TU-9900 Tuner|TEAC A-6100 RtR|Nakamichi RX-202 Cassette -

Thanks for your input:rolleyes: Until this thread got a little derailed it was about "deer hunting" Not about vegetarians vs. meat eaters, not about fossil fuel consumption, nor about the living being that died to make a burger or fried chicken.
Again IMO hunting is most definitely a sport. Others may feel different, probably those that never did any real hunting. It's not football, soccer, racing or synchronized swimming. But it takes skills that require practice and honing, some become better at it than others, same as any other sport. -

I hope I wasn't misunderstood. That is exactly what I got of of "The Omnivore's Dilemma" also. As I said it helped me gain perspective and a clarity in the activity I have taken part in since I was old enough to keep quiet and be observant.
I also don't feel it is a "sport," it is on a much higher plane than as simple game or activity.
I was in my stand this morning well before sunup enjoying the day as it broke. No deer. No problem.(((STEREO)))

You misread me, or maybe my post was just over your head ... I'm a hunter too. When some people call it a "sport" they are trying to disparage it. I know the skills involved. I had to use a damn sand wedge on a raccoon one night and I gotta say it was efficient.
Kind of a mess compared to a double duce but you gotta do what you gotta do. -

Very nice! I'm assuming Ohio seasons run pretty close to PA, so guessing this was an archery success story? Did you know he was in the area or was he just passin' through? Looks like a (very well) corn fed deer, some farmer is probably thankful you thinned out the heard a little.
Again congrats. on the slammer. -
Beautiful
Congratulations on a nice buck. We need details like weapon, the shot and all the good stuff.
You may need to use a dremel tool to sharpen your teeth to be able to chew some of that meat but its worth it How old do you think that buck is?
I have a big 12 point running around my home but I won't shoot him. I'd rather shoot a couple small does (100 pounders) so I can flip them over my shoulder and easily carry them into my garage. -

Probably not a good idea to go walking around with a deer over your shoulder during hunting season:eek:
Even on private land you are sure you're the only one on. Just (unfortunately) too many nimrods out there. -
