SS has been a solid member and I don't think he needs to apologize unless the original seller had some agreement with him. Or is really pissed off. Anyway, has everyone kissed and made up yet?

I didn't start this thread, but since it made reference to a transaction I was involved with, I felt I should comment on it. I didn't want to bring SolidSqual's name into it because I really wanted the discussion to be about the FM in general and not one specific transaction. I don't think anyone here would deny that SS is a good member who contributes good information on a regular basis. The point of my comments was not to sling mud at any particular person, but rather have a conversation about how each of us feels about the FM. As Ricardo and a few others have pointed out, this thread (if nothing else) has at least shown us that not everyone feels the same way about transactions in the FM. There really was a time when we were ALL on the same page, but that era has passed (as evidenced by this thread). It's good to know that and have it out in the open.
At the end of the day, SS didn't really wound me with his decision to sell an item on Agon. My participation in this thread used that instance as a springboard for a larger examination of the unwritten policies in relation to the FM. There's no reason why anyone should have animosity towards him or make him feel unwelcome. If nothing else it was good to get everyone's thoughts on record./COLOR] My Rigs [COLOR="Red" Balanced Audio Technology | Revel | Dodd | Monarchy | PS Audio | MIT | Polk | Etc. -

Well I'm glad the underlying issue here has been resolved. I commend Blake and Brock for their chivalry and restraint in not outing Mike.
Mike you really stepped up to the plate.
On another note this thread really showed who gets it and who doesn't as well as the character of some. -

I gotta say, my absolute very favorite part of this thread was Nooshie's 180 degree flip-flop that took place even faster than it usually does:nooshinjohn wrote:I have a problem with this as well. I am willing to bet that most if not all would have had a different take on this if that information was known up front. Solid... I give you props for stepping up man. I hope that all is ok and looking up. Please accept my appologies for speaking without understanding the facts, and best of luck with the sale:)

Where does it say that I think it was ok to do. The only thing that changed from my original position was wanting to give a member that has a good reputation amongst everyone here something you, Heiney, Ben, and Ricardo are unwilling to give me... the benefit of a doubt.
The real question is if you guys really are over it, why do you give a crap? The two comments you cited first were made without knowing any details, which emerged later. And seriously, have you never had a softening of a position once facts became clear, or are you so closed-minded as to not be able to grasp that there may be other factors that can change outcomes. Hardly a flip-flop, rather more along the lines of letting cooler heads prevail, as has seemingly been the case.
So... just to clarify. You are now OK with Mike for what has happened and willing to move on , but I am an F'tard for coming to that same conclusion long before you did?

That's all fine and good until you realize that the ONLY new detail that emerged was who committed the transgression. The name of the person shouldn't matter one single bit. Not at all. If someone does something wrong, then it's wrong no matter what his post count is or what his name is. King or serf, a transgression is a transgression.
You flip-flopped because you found out who it was, plain and simple. It is just wrong became good luck with the sale! based on a single fact -- the person's name. That is BS, and it is so very typical of you on this forum. Shoot your mouth off with concrete statements, then backpedal when you think it'll offend one of the elders. No wonder so many people have you on ignore.
Neither Brock nor I wanted to bring any names into this discussion because they were immaterial. It was supposed to be a discussion about the unwritten rules of the FM, not who may or may not have broken them. It had nothing to do with a single transaction. We wanted to talk about the FM in broad terms. And you did too -- you made your opinion very clear when were were speaking in general terms. You said it was wrong. Then Mike stepped up and outed himself (which, by the way, I think was a classy move) and all of a sudden you're saying not only should people be free to sell things at a profit via another venue, but you're wishing them luck!!!!
Seriously, that's one for the record book of flip-flops (and seeing as you hold the top 100 slots in that book, no small feat either!)./COLOR] My Rigs [COLOR="Red" Balanced Audio Technology | Revel | Dodd | Monarchy | PS Audio | MIT | Polk | Etc. -
Does any side ever win in arguments like this? Constructive discussion is one thing, but this stuff gets tiresome. Is this a "family"? Some feel as though it is, some don't? Should you sell gear for a profit or offer it back at the same price? Some think profit, some think to offer it back. The list of questions go on and on. Who's to say who's right? It inevitably boils down to each person's definition of right and wrong, which will differ from person to person. Wars are started over differences in opinion. But to blanketly judge a person on one perceived indiscretion is laughable. This situation aside, this forum has more than its share of threads like this. It also has more than its share of positive, helpful threads. Post count means jack **** in it all - contribute positively or don't. If you do, kudos to you. If you don't, welcome to my ignore list. I will not say who I agree with in this situation because it does nothing to contribute to the greater good of this forum. It is a personal opinion I have and may influence future dealings with any of the parties involved. Just my opinion.Shawn

I'm not going to pass judgement on Mike. Not my place.
But definitely learned in this thread who is ridiculous and who isn't....
That being said, i was just the recipient of a piece of gear for free. It was free because the person who sent it to me recieved it for free as a karma. The member could have easily sold it for a decent chunk of cash, but instead chose to gift it to me because i "needed" it.
The gear that it is replacing will go to someone who really DOES need it (because i'm sick of hearing about them listening to music on TV speakers DAMMIT), even though i could turn around and make a $150 profit on the entire transaction.
It has nothing to do with "right" or "wrong." It just has to do with compassion.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

blakeh, you've been around long enough to know these threads lead no where but the gutter. nooshinjohn obviously has nobody's interest but his own in mind to serve here. Let him talk to the walls 'cause I can tell you from experience, it ain't gonna end with him.
nooshinjohn, you haven't been around long at all. Certainly not long enough to be able to act the way you do without any backlash. Nobody should ever behave like they own the place, no matter how long they have been here. But, you are still going on and on and flip-flopping. Some advice, shut up. This isn't your battle. You try so very hard to win friends and influence people here but your words and actions in this thread betray you. Yet you always seem surprised and incensed that people react negatively to your pandering and patronization. You should honestly shut up for a bit because you're not winning your war in this thread and you're just alienating people more than you already have.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
