Need some help pricing speakers for a sale...
Hey guys,
I am thinking of selling my old Polks and need some help as to how to price these or their actual street value. Of course I want to get the most bang for the buck, but I also don't want to give them away, so asking for some help.
And I don't have to sell them, but I just replaced them with an Emotiva setup, and they take up quite a bit of room. Currently have them in the house in my office.
Here is what I have...
Polk RT2000i L/R Black veneer, Near Mint and fully functional. Grills are in perfect shape. No dents or scratches but one has a little teeny tiny nick in a corner. A little black touch up paint or even a sharpie would correct.
Polk CS1000p Center Channel, the BEAST! This is I believe the largest center that Polk made, weighs in at around 70lbs and is 3' long. Also black veneer, Near Mint, grills intact and in great shape. No dents or scratches, a beautiful center.
Polk FX500i L/R Rear Surrounds, Black, grills are perfect, no scratches or dents.
All of the speakers are functioning, amps are working and no known issues with any of these speakers. Like I said, I don't need to sell, but hate to just have them sitting around collecting dust.
The speakers are located in Michigan, Ann Arbor, Chelsea area off I-94. Looking for local pickup only if anyone is interested that may read this thread.

The Rules:1. You must have a total post count of 25 (contribute to the other parts of the forum) before you can sell anything in the "For Sale (FS) Classifieds" or "Garage Sale" forums.
2. List a price you wish to sell the item (include shipping costs). All members asking for secret bids (like ebay) will have their items removed.Political Correctness'.........defined

Screw you! I was asking for some pricing advice, as I have not a clue to the value of these speakers... Along with letting anyone who reads where I am located, as I have no plans of carting these things anywhere, I am not shipping these.
I already pm'd Ron Temple and he filled me in regarding pricing.
To the mod, if you want to delete this post go for it. I'll burn the damn things before I will even try to sell them here.

Take PICTURES? My pants down or me burning my speakers?
Been a member longer than you, didn't read the rules regarding selling anything here, never needed to. But I know there are some guys and gals out there that would love to have my setup, along with my unemployed son in law... You kinda remind me of him in a way... Waiting for your free health care... And whatever else you can suck off the producers...
And how long do you think it would take me to get to 25 posts to sell here? About 20 mins, and Ron already set me straight on posting the items I have "for sale". And like I said, I don't even care if I SELL THEM! Simply looking for advice on pricing. What an anal pig you are F1, get a life, you remind me of one of my ex-employees, he is driving a bus somewhere and living with his mom, still.
And what the hell difference does it matter if I have 25 posts or not to ask for advice on what these speakers are worth? God, why even bother, thanks for f'n nothing. And thanks to the guys sticking up for me, always a bad apple in the bunch.
Mike
And you want pictures, here they are, bought brand new... See attachment. -
Not that you asked - but I would angle your center channel up a bit (unless you usually watch movies from a bean bag on the floor... - Don't laugh, its my kids favorite viewing position)
Anyway - nice room. With smooth walls and a tile floor I wonder about the reflections you get in it though. I would think about room treatments as your next big "bang for your buck" upgrade.
Good luck with your sale (or not)

Hey thanks guys.
We just remodeled the basement, treatments are on the way. Look, I just dropped some coin over at Emotiva, all set up, two amps, and a 5.0 speaker setup. Bought the XPA-2, XPA-3 amps, pair of 8.3 L/R, 6.3 center (with angled stand) and the ERD surrounds. The SVS PC13-Ultra is still there and has been moved out of the corner.
Look guys, I don't want any grief, I thought I would come here and get some honest advice on pricing. I did not expect to get attacked like this. I have been a Polk fan for many years, Hell, I have a whole house audio system that would make most of yours eyes melt, all Polk. Atrium 55s in 3 outdoor zones, and all TCi's throughout the house in 9 zones. Sitting on the deck right now listening to some ELP and having a beer.
Sorry this went this way, just expected more than a handful of shite...

You guys are way off base...Mike (localnet) PM'd me on AVS asking for advice. He's not trying to sell his speakers here, he's just asking for advice. The local posse arrives and starts shooting bullets at his feet just to see him dance. Great job guys...He's helped many Polkies at AVS for years, asks for a little help and see what he gets.

Yes you do. Every member of this forum does. You are no exception.
You can lose the attitude at anytime. He, unlike you has been a major contributor of this board.
Try it and see what happens. If you have been a member for this long, you should have noticed what happens to folks that do things like that without actually contributing.
See, why even bother? I will not say that I am posting my last post like some. Just kinda shocked at you guys right now. Is it the economy?
I have lurked here for years, and never have I seen this. But I can say the same thing for AVS in the past month or two, getting rough out here as the economy tanks. I remember when you bought something or were in need of advice and were never attacked.

Hey Ron,
Thank you SIR!
And I am STILL a POLK AUDIO SUPPORTER!
Mike -
Dude, I have no beef with you or him. None whatsoever, but Jesse has a point. Look at his [localnet's] first post. It looks exactly like a full description of everything, why he wants to sell and it also looks like a cleverly disquised OBO behind the scenes type of FS ad that is NOT allowed on this forum. Regardless of who you are or who you know.
If you guys can't see this? I can't help you.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
Jesus Christ, give me a break! How can I get advice on my setup regarding pricing if I do not tell everyone what I have?
OY!
Look, I ain't in need of cash, I ain't trying to steal any food off of anyone's table, I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT THESE SPEAKERS ARE WORTH!
And I am not shipping them! Sorry I even posted my location! Just rying to get honest answers. And no, I did not read the rules! Hell I own about $10,000.00 in Polk gear! What the hell do you have?!?!!!!!!
Just THINKING about selling my god damned speakers!
How hard is that to comprehend!?!?!

Mike, if your intentions are not what you say they're not then there's no need to explode about things imo. I actually was interested in your center but now I'm not even considering it. As far as trying to compare what type of gear you have to other members on here, I think that's just plain childish and can honestly say that your "system" is by no means "high-end". In no way does "a stereo/setup/etc" make you better than anyone else on here either. Honestly, goodluck with your sale whenever you do decide to sell them but with that attitude it won't get you very far.Truck setup

Not even seeing much on the bay....
RT2000i - Did not sell (no bids) at $699.
CS1000p - (new - old stock) - no bids at $1000 relisted at $900 with no bids.
Polk FX500i - Buy it now at $299 with no bids.
Audiogon has this... "Polk Audio RT 5000P home theater speaker system " for $2500, but it has been out there for 20 days and will probably stay for the duration - (RT5000, CS1000p and FX1000)
In all honesty, in this market, if you do not have to sell them - I would hold onto them until things turn around. When things start getting better, I am guessing there will be a ton of buyers and not enough sellers to support it. For now it is a buyers market and you may be stuck with firesale prices to unload them.Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

Thank you sir,
That is all I am looking for... Between you and Ron, I think I will just sit on them. No need to ditch them as I said, they are very nice speakers. Just thought I could help someone out with a cool setup and not having the wife yell at me for giving them away. If you have a wife, you know what I mean.:D
Again, thank you.

good luck on your sale of Polk Audio speakers.
They are great speakers and someone will enjoy having them in their system. -

It's turned into "guilty until proven innocent" kindof thing around here. The harsh truth is that there are a TON of people that join just to sell, and at first glance, you looked the same.
At second glance (Join date, past posts) that was cleared as far as i was concerned.
Buuuuuttttt..... 25 posts does still apply for a for sale thread. I personally didn't see it as a for sale thread, rather a "what's this stuff worth?" thread, albeit with a rather open-ended offer to contact you to come look at them if interested. But, no price posted or anything. I didn't care. Other people did i guess. At the end of it, i don't matter, i don't have the post count necessary to pass judgement.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I did not explode. I was called a crook in my book. The speaker is here, but like I said above, I will keep her.
In regards to "my system" and being "childish" and "high end" who cares? I never said I was better than you or anyone else. I just wanted to know what I have is worth, and stated what I have invested in Polk Audio. I think that, and I am sorry if I offended you, that I "would" be treated better here.
I emailed Ron Temple this am with the same question I posed here. He responded, as he is a good guy, and told me what is up. That is all I was looking for. Hell, do you think this is the only place to sell speakers? I just wanted an HONEST evaluation of what I WAS considering to sell, that is all. Instead I was attacked. And trust me, I am not going to lose any sleep over this.
Beer is out, need to go refill.... Nice having a Keg in the basement... Be right back...:D
All right, I am back...
Where was I?
Well at this point, who the hell cares....:D
In regards to my "high end" system, dude, get a life. I worked hard for what I have, and trust me, it is not that "high end", whatever the hell you mean. I like my new Emotiva purchase, I am happy, it sounds fantastic to my ears, just as all of the pairs of Polk speakers I own, 30 speakers/15 pairs to be exact throughout the house.
I ain't here to get into a financial pissing contest.
The speakers are not for sale.
Thanks for replying to my "sale" thread.
