I don't see why a modded pair of LSi15's wouldn't have better resolution than a stock pair of SRS 1.2TL's. The 1.2TL's should have a better soundstage and much bigger bass though.

The interconnect is working correctly, my misunderstanding....

I have ordered 8 new RDO-198-1's, it seems like most people like them better.

I will continue to troubleshoot the popping drivers once the tweets are in place and everything is working.........

What crossover modifications are best and what can be expected from them??

I did pull each driver out of the left cabinet and hook them directly to the main speaker cable so they were getting the full range. I couldn't tell any difference, not sure what I should hear, but I thought something would sound different?? I did not push them very loud, didn't know if it would hurt them or not since they were connected straight to the main cable??

What should I hear and how hard should I push them??

True... but as I said, I run an identical amp Jesse with no problems, even when the volume is maxed out and have no control issues in my setup. It would stand to reason that he should not have issues from his amp, and drivers are most likely the cause. Phase issues could also have something to do with it, but my bet is a couple drivers need to be replaced.

I was re-reading this thread and have to ask if you can really turn the volume to its max with no problems?? What pre are you using and are you using all 7 channels of your amp?? I assume you are using 4 channels for the big boys??

I'm just reading up and waiting on the new tweeters to arrive. How can I check the phase of each speaker?? I can't find a wiring diagram, just a drawing with each speaker showing the color of wire that should be connected??

I do have it Bi-amped, running 4 channels to them, and yes I can max it out. I have the Yamaha RX-v861 set to max out at 0.
The volume on it runs from-70db to +15. I have set it up to stop progression beyond the 0db point

Are you using the other channels of your amp to drive anything?? The reason I ask is that I have read that the amp will use power intended for the unused channels if needed for the ones being used?? Have you measured the output with a SPL meter??

I do not have a meter for spl. I am running the rear surround channels for the low end and using the current source outputs for the highs, as recommended in the Sunfire manual. I am still running the center channel and effect channels for a total of 5 channels. I believe that in two channel operation, it will tap the reserves of the other channels if needed.

I guess that would mean that when in 2 channel mode you have a lot more in reserve than I would. I have 4 channels of five running the 1.2tl's so ther is only one channel not being used, you would still have 3 in reserve??

Does this sound right?? If mine are still having issues after I replace the tweets and confirm the wiring again I will send my amp in for a check-up.

    Thanks for your help!!

It won't be the amp... if the tweets do not solve the issue, you will have a problem driver or two. I would start looking for a couple drivers just in case.

Well,, good luck,,I know it can be frustrating,,perhaps it's a good thing that you are temporarily sidetracked with the delay in the tweeter shipment,,gives you some time to step back and re-acess,,at least that seemed to work for me,,,it's very easy to become totally pre-occupied with an SDA dilema/issue--good luck.

Yes Sir!! You are absolutely correct!! I re-arranged the entire room last night and am now in the process of re-routing the wiring....major pain in butt!! The placement was all wrong according to the manual, all spacing was bad, and I thought they were too close to my TV (Pioneer Elite rear projection). By the way, anyone know what the safe distance is??

Anyway, I have already connected just the 1.2tl's and played several disc's, wow...Dark Side of the Moon has sound coming from everywhere....I've never experienced anything like this, I LOVE IT!!!

I am sure it will be a lot better when I get everything completed as one speaker has no tweeters playing at all.

eh,, maybe 3 feet,,if you are talking about the distance between the speakers and your vidieo,,,then there's always bucking magnets,,and with certain vidieo devices,,it's not an issue,,Plasma,LCD?

The TV is 50" wide, I have them 12" out from each side and have a min of 3 feet from the side of one to the side wall, the other side has more distance, can't center it perfectly for other reasons....so they are just over 6 feet apart from edge to edge....

That's what I did, my Living room in my apartment was 14x12.5

Now in my house the smallest Bedroom is 18x14, I'm building an Audio room in my basement that will be 22x14 :)

Maybe you could send me a couple hundred grand???:D

You are fortunate!! I would love to hear your system in that room, probably never leave!!

I have read on the net that rear projection isn't as sensitive due to the placement of the CRTs inside the cabinet??

Let me see if I have this right. You have the speakers 6 feet apart, atleast 3 feet from the side walls and 12 inches from the back wall; correct?

The back of the speakers are about 14.5" from the wall. The manual states they should be out 2" more than anything beside them??

The main issue I am worried about now is the spacing from my rear projection TV, I want to be sure it is okay..

    Thanks a lot!!
