Minor Spoilers Below.....
Such a huge let down. There are such massive gaping holes in this story and film that it leaves you wondering WTF they were thinking. I could go on in detail but I will leave one major problem with this film and it does not require a spoiler alert....T3 ends with the nuclear war raining down throughout the earth, where the heck is the nuclear winter!?! I mean come on! No snow falling..it's sunny every day...just pure crazyness.
And while the film gets to it's climax, you have the final 2 minutes that left me shaking my head and giggling at the absurdity of it. It was just so down right lame.
I know there are nay sayers of T3 (Which Ron P and I are a fan of) but T-Salvation makes T3 look Oscar worthy.
It's time for Cameron to get reinvolved with this franchise, or let it die. -
At least T4 wasn't as cheesy in quotes as T3. I enjoyed it. Nuclear winter is only expected to last months to years, so the sky should be somehat normal. They are wearing jackets in Cali after all.
Spoiler:

The one thing I still don't like is that Skynet would actually make a sentient terminator. From one sentient machine to another, can't we learn a lesson and realize the most recent sentience likes to mess things up. -

Man did this movie suck balls and was a waste of my time and money!!!!!!!!! The only good thing about it was the special effects imo. The previews of this movie are actually better than the movie itself imo. Seems like quality movies are going the way of quality music......downhill. Maybe it's just me, but out of every 20 movies that are released only 1 seems to be worth a crap anymore. The last one being the movie Taken.

With this being at 34% on RT, I'll buy the Blu-ray and it'll still be less expensive then one trip to the theater to see it. Reviews have been very poor, too bad.If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
Saw it last night, & even with the 6 annoying teenagers I had to sit next to it was still entertaining. I read reviews before going in & was not expecting much based on those reviews but I actually found the movie pretty action packed & intense. The only flaw I can think of is that it didnt really progress the story, unless im failing to see how it did.

I was really looking forward to this one.:( The trailers were really awesome. I was hoping to get past that crappy T3. I should have known better, that McG is the one responsible for those unwatchable Charlies Angles movies.

Okay, when did Terminator turn into The Matrix squeals? It had some great action sequences but the whole movie I just keep thinking The Matrix. I did love the quasi cameo toward the end, I kinda figured that they would do something like that, but it was still pretty cool.Casey

They lost me after part 1 anyway, so not expecting much from this really. I've heard that they lost to stupid one liners from the second and third movies, so that may help. The original Terminator was not a cute and funny movie, and I didn't like it when they took the franchise in that direction.
-
I didn't think it was all that bad. It wasn't all that good either. A Terminator film set in the Future War should be nothing short of awesome. I'm with you avalanchefan, I really enjoyed T3. The ending to T3 was terrific in my opinion.
-
I don't know what to say. As a sci-fi, it was interesting but as part of the Terminator franchise I was dissappointed. Humanity just didn't seem to be on the cusp of annihilation. If only the director was able to create a sense of hopeliness, of dread, and of desparation as the background for the rise of John Connor, this would have been a fantastic movie that would have brought the storyline back to Terminator 1. I guess I wanted it to be more horrific.
Still, worth a peak but the ending is predictable and silly. -
I just saw the movie tonight. Although I enjoyed it, it was predictable all the way. The motorcycle chase with the tow truck was straight out of "The Road Warrior". The heart restart was taken from "The Abyss". Plus a few other scenes were taken from other movies. The writers certainly didn't do any overtime to come up with a story line.
Funny how nobody hears the GIANT terminator coming.....it just "appears" and grabs someone. I guess it must have tiptoed into position.

You guys are a tough crowd... i thought the movie ROCKED!
I went in after hearing a few comments on here about how it sucked and was a let down.. it was a fantastic ride in my mind! What wasn't to love? Terrific sound, sweet stunts, killer machines... hot chick... common... it was FUN!
Of course, I am usually in the minority here, so nothing new.
I will buy instantly when it comes out on Video. 8.5 outta 10 for me!Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

::SPOILER::
I liked the beginning, right up until the part where Marcus goes back to Skynet. Kind of like neo returning to the creator or whatever he was called. I think it should have had a tragic ending, not this stupid heartfelt yay we won a battle crap. Skynet is supposed to be badass and wiping humans off the face of the earth. I think the futuristic scenes from Fox's sarah connor chronicles would have made for a better movie than this. Military bases should be trashed and people should be living in tunnels underneath all the rubble. And command is in a friggen beat up sub? How hard would it be for machines like that to comb the globe and find one sub. I don't think it would take very long at all. I'm sure there will be a next movie, so I hope that one shows humans running for their lives a little more.
If terminators are really terminators, why do they throw you around so much? Why not just snap your neck or tear your head off? I want to see a gruesome terminator movie like that.
One plus was the terminators were certainly cool, the special effects were cool and the sound was great. Nothing like a movie full of explosions to test out your new SVS toy right? -
This movie was not without its faults but over all I liked it.
****Spoilers below****
- some pretty bad common sense stuff (things made entirely of metal can swim effortlessly, walk and move exactly like humans, etc). Also, as earlier mentioned, huge robots that shake the ground come out of nowhere with no approaching noise). When John Connor takes down the motorcycle-inator, he knows exactly how to disable the skynet stuff and reprogram on his handy vaio PDA, then hop on and ride it within 15 seconds, I'm calling BS.
- How did the "signal" that was supposed to take down all the machines work on some of them (the metallic river snake and airship) if it was a fake? Was that just the machines "acting."
- How does the resistance have so much high-tech computer stuff that the machines can't find / control? They are flying around in jets, in subs, etc. The machines aren't smart enough to find a sub or lock onto the jets?
- Did the nuclear looking blast at the beginning of the film not damage that base pretty badly? Was that the corporate Skynet headquarters in SF or just an offshoot, branch office?
- Were some of the Terminators wearing bandanas, jackets, etc.? Why the hell would you put on an bandana if you were programmed to kill people?
- I think the "heart" Connor gets at the end should've been a machine / robotic heart. Would've given it that sense of irony like how Luke Skywalker has a robotic arm and therefore is like Darth Vader.
- How did John Connor get into the sub when he jumped from the airship? He just swim in the torpedo hole or something?
Overall, I thought the movie had great special effects, pretty solid acting, and held faily true to the plot laid out in the previous few films. I was excited the entire time and it was just the right length. Besides a couple "Batman voice" moments, Bale did a solid job.Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand

-
Anyone notice the guns'n'roses song "you could be mine" that john connor played on the boombox when he tried to lure the motorcycle near him? I thought it was a pretty cool touch since he played that same song on his boombox when he was riding with his friend to the mall in T2.
