Your computer will **** down every two hours before it completely expires and you'll need to install the full version to get it to stop. Sounds....fun :)

Usually when trying a new OS, I put it on a separate partition or drive, and dual boot.

This will start in March of 2010 until you buy or re-install another OS then June 2010 it expires. I think its great they are giving you almost a year. The release is set for October. Plenty of time to play around with and buy before the 2 hour shutdown crap starts.

I installed beta on VirtualBox, haven't really tried it out that much yet. I might dual boot my gaming rig with the RC to see if it makes any difference. Hopefully MS got it right this time, even then I'm not going back to Windows on my main machine.

I was going to say the same thing. That might be signature material right there! Come to think of it, shitting up might be even more of a problem! Yup ... between the two, down is most definitely better!

FYI guys, for those of you who has Windows 7 Beta, and rather be doing an UPGRADE as opposed to Complete Install of RC, here is the hack:

Burn ISO (downloaded W7 RC image) to DVD
Copy the DVD content to local drive (partition that will be upgraded) or Flash Drive USB that you will use to install W7 RC
Go to Sources directory of W7 RC
    Use notepad to edit cversion.ini
Change the value on both lines to 7000
save cversion.ini to replace the original
Execute Setup.exe and select Upgrade when prompted

I did it this morning, and so far, all of my programs that I installed before (on Windows 7 Beta) are working fine.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I have a little internet connectivity wierdness, but overall it's working well for me. I like the interface tweaks, and games do run a little better for me, but nothing earth-shattering

When listening to music and surfing web the Music was glitching in and out when i would scroll around a page. The CPU was spiking like crazy when i did this. Very odd.

I'm downloading this now and I'll probably put it on another partition.

Currently I'm running Vista Home Premium with no problems so I don't know what if any improvement I'll see but what the hey.

Everything else in the OS runs great, and no slowness at all, just on the right click menu on the desktop

so far so good, but coming from Windows 7 Beta, I don't really see any *major* difference: speed, interface, features (or at least usable features for me). It is stable, a tad faster, clean and straight forward upgrade process (two reboots overall, perhaps?). Am I missing all the hoopla excitements? No complain is a good thing, though...

Ive heard good things about 7 so far. A couple magazines have already claimed it better than Vista.

Im building a computer myself but as money is tight, its going very slow and piecemeal so by the time I get ready to fire the thing up maybe this will be ready. Was planning on getting a Vista Home Premium OEM OS but if this is out when I finish, Ill go with it.

That's some great info! I wasn't looking forward to a full re-install for the RC.

Just so I'm sure, the RC is only downloadable to TechNet subscribers right now, correct?
