Not that I've discovered. I've installed it on a desktop and now my laptop so far, and I've wiped both systems to do so.

Ive heard good things about 7 so far. A couple magazines have already claimed it better than Vista.
I don't think there's any question that it's a significant improvement over Vista, I don't think anyone would dispute that at this point.

The general consensus is that its what Vista should have been all along. There are a few new features, but really this should have just been released as a service pack for Vista.

I'd really like to see Microsoft man up and offer this as an upgrade for Vista users at a significant discount.

Yes, I installed Win 7 on another partition and I'm dual booting with Vista since last night. I haven't had a chance to set it all up yet but so far so good. Everything runs ok and it's no problem switching from Vista to Win 7.

Upgraded last night. No problems. I still don't like the way the photo import feature works though.

We,ve been testing it on a machine at work, seems to work fine. That said, I don't see any compelling features that would prompt us to upgrade our machines from XP. Most of the animated crap would just slow productivity down. It seems to run quite a bit faster than Vista, but still slower than XP.

At home I am dual booting XP and 7. I can't get my TV tuner to work no matter what I try, even though it has all the proper drivers and software loaded. And several of the programs I like to use won't run, so at this point it's just annoying me, and I usually boot into XP.

Is this in a Active Directory environment? If it is how is the login speed?

We feel the same way as far as the features. The only problem is that unless Microsoft changes their license terminology you can only "downgrade" to the previous version of the OS. When vendors stop selling Vista licenses XP will not be a legal downgrade. If you're not buying new computers with OEM licenses, or if you buy all your OS licenses through the Open Licensing Program, that's not a problem. Otherwise it's Win7 or Vista.

Dual boot, XP and Win7 64bit on a 14" Laptop.
I haven't done a battery test to check the efficiency, but it's snappy and responsive.
IE8 works nice, reads very well. . . but it's IE, so my expectations are low.
Purdy though. So far, so good. I will surely be waiting for Win7 to appear in OEM form before buying a replacement main laptop.

Win 7 is great, it has the snappy speed of XP and the eye candy of Vista plus features that are unique to Win 7. After several days of use I have to say this is a BIG winner for MS. I didn't have a lot of the problems others had with Vista so I was pretty happy with it but I have to say MS has hit a home run with the RC. If the retail version is as good it will be a hit!

Any word on how much this will cost?

Im almost finished building my computer and was planning on buying Windows Vista Home Premium for $99 at Newegg cause I thought 7 wouldnt be released til late next year. If the OEM version of this will run $100 like Vista, then Ill just download the RC version for free and run it until October when the real version comes out but if its going to be $300+, Ill pass and stick with Vista.

    Link to upgrade pricing: LINK

Upgrades to Windows 7 Home Premium, which includes improvements to Vista's sluggish-yet-pretty Aero interface as well as multitouch features, will set Vista users back just $49.99, according a leaked Best Buy memo posted by Engadget. Updates to Windows 7 Professional, targeted at business users, will cost $99.99.

Although I've put XP back on this box, it's going to be pretty cheap to go from Vista to W7, so a quick wipe and install, then the upgrade to W7 Pro for 100$ seems like a pretty good deal. Kudo's to MS for the tacit apology for Vista in the form of a discount. I hope this is how it actually shakes out.

    Edit: From another article
"The best part of the memo comes at the end where Best Buy says they will also be preselling select version of Windows 7 on their web site. Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade will go for $49.99 and Windows 7 Professional Upgrade will go for only $99.99. This offer will be available for 16 days through July 11th, 2009. You will receive your upgrade on October 22nd."

That's not bad at all. I might however stick with Vista since I only use it for games now and occasionally Visual Studio. Unless Microsoft comes up with something ground breaking, which I don't see them doing, I think I'll stick with other options in the future as well for my non-gaming computers.

I should have shot myself in the foot! What a freaken nightmare install.
    Error code 0x80070017
    Files are corupt or missing,
Aparently after doing the google search this is a common problem. Burn your ISO on a slow setting if you run into this problem. The thing is up and running great within the OS now. Very fast and clean after you turn down some of the sliding fading crap.

Have it loaded on my work laptop. Dell Latitude d620. Core2Duo 2.0ghz, 2gb ddr2, 60gb SATA HD. Runs better than vista, has a few features that are nice. Works fine on and off our domain. Seems to be snappier than Vista on the same laptop. Almost the same level as XP, even with the visual goodies turned on.
    Ludicrous gibs!

It is ripping right along. I am going to use it as my media server, and my ICS device. The eye candy I recommend turning off is the slide/fade features. I want stuff to just open. No ooooh just open.

If you can't for some reason (XP might destroy the 7's boot sector, actually it probably will), there is a way to do it. I don't know if the super grub disc works but a sure way would be to do minimal Linux install on the machine and let it write its own boot loader which would then handle all 3. It's very easy to do but if you need help on how to do it, let me know.
