I'm just about finished. All that's left is a bit of staining, waterproofing and seeding between all the stones, and maybe a bit more decor.

Nice! Very Nice! I got to build one myself. I suggest you install a nice pair of outdoor (Polk Atrium) speakers installed there and wire up. How nice it would feel to sit there and sipping coconut juice from fresh coconuts while listening to really soothing music.

Very cool relaxing spot....the stone walkway leading to it is what really made it first class.

I already have'em. There's a pair mounted up under the eves of the house, fills the entire backyard with music.

That is very nice, and I can imagine it'll be excellent in CA climes.
If I had something like that here in central MA, we'd be offering ourselves as human sacrifices to the mosquito gods if we tried to sit in it, say, around dusk in midsummer.

no doubt. looks hot ron! but concerning "how does it sound?"... i'd imagine hail might be a nuisance hitting that galvanized rooftop. no?

upon further review, you made a bunch of trellisis? that are not too far spaced apart. pretty stout. prolly not too loud when hit by hail nor will it act like a tuning fork of sorts.

    Very nice, Ron.

Any thought about possibly adding decorative bamboo or maybe some grass/thatch for the roof?

Outdoor speakers would be useless unless they were playing the mating calls of African animals, and sea creatures. The idea of an escape is to get away. Chickens would be a nice addition to your yard.

Ha Ha, in my life time here in Surf City, CA. I've maybe seen hail three times. It's really nothing I ever need to be concerned with.

Beautifull job!!!! Where's the outdoor speakers?????
There under the eve of the house on the other side of the yard, but they work great. I also have a pair in the back planter behind the hut, there just not wired up yet. I'll have surround sound in the backyard shortly.

I have about 8 different nature CD's exactly for that, just sounds of nature in all it's glory...sans the chickens. :)

    Ron,
your back yard is beautiful. Very very nice man. I would have rock speakers in the gardens for better coverage and lower volume. You could pull that off well there.

Chickens originate from southeast asia and would, indeed, fit in. A couple of ornimental bantams work just right for a SE Asia look! :p

The straw (or dead palm frans) cover the top of my tool shed. I didn't want too much of that and I REALLY like the galvanized roof look. The bamboo is in the garage, just not sure where it's going yet.

It's coming, eventually. I would love a water fountain, or water fall, just not sure what or where I'd put it yet, but it's in the plans.
