That's very nice. It looks like it was a lot of work, but well worth it. I just moved into a new house and it is a very nice house, but has needed a lot of work done as well to get it into good shape. I have been dead tired from all the work put in, but it's coming along so nicely that I can really appreciate everything about it now. I bet you feel the same way. Drink a beer, smoke a cigar, and listen to some good music for me! Well done

    Thanks guys!

Here's the last project of the day, and yes, it lights up as well. Found some 10w malibu bulbs at HD that fit in these lanterns perfectly.

For rain, is the pitch of the roof enough that it makes sure all rain doesn't get stuck in each valley? Why not install it top to bottom so the 'valleys' run top to bottom of the roof instead of side to side?

Very nice! You could put a nice set of bookshelf speakers and a tactile transducer under the floor and get some pretty high sound quality out there.

That was my one mistake, running the tin roof the wrong direction. My plan is to overlay the existing with another layer running the other way. The stuff is cheap enough to do so...or, I might just peel the roof off and turn it. But, the pitch is enough to where I don't get standing water.

Well, after Brett's comment above and my desire to change the roof, it is now underway. I'm about 1/3 done. It's all torn off, the tin is being cut down to size and I'm starting the install. Should be done in a couple of hours, it really looks so much better. Pics to come...

cool! have you thought of possibly angling the tin so that the water run's out + away from the hut? this just popped into my head :o

No kidding about not wasting time.....lol.....

I was gonna say if you put the tin on in the top to bottom arrangement, you may have to put some sort of plywood backer on it so the edges don't bend down around the graming.......but you've started that.......good luck.

No plywood, the rafters are 12"oc so the gap is close enough. Plus, I like the look of the tin when inside the hut. It's all done, just a few more screws. I also had to buy a cap for the pinnacle which was a challenge. Of the 3 HD's in my area I found one, that last one. They discontinued the caps.

But yeah, I had today off with really nothing to do so it made for a nice afternoon project and it is something I've wanted to do for quite sometime. Looks sooooooooo much better.

Added a couple new palms to the backyard yesterday. Found these beauties at Home Depot of all places for $99 each. Quite rare to find unless you hit up the local tropical type plant stands.

This is a Flamethrower. The really cool thing about this one, when the frawn first opens it's bright red for about 10 days.

    Flamethrower.jpg

This is a Giant Fishtail plam, she'll get over 60' tall. It's referred to the "Mountain Giant", it gets so big. This one will dominate the yard.

    Fishtail.jpg

...this now brings me up to a total of 12 different species of plams in the backyard. I still plan to add more, different species in time.

I also built an old style wooded ladder yesterday to add to the decor.
