As the saying goes..."United We Stand, Divided We Fall".

It's as simple as that my fellow Americans. What we've had for a while now is a system of division.

You guys don't understand. Ask yourself a simple question -- who controls the IMF?

Once you arrive at the answer, then you'll realize why the US Treasury Secretary is open to the concept of a global currency run by the IMF.

War ended the great depression and no economic policy created prior to it had much of an impact.

I dont know why anybody would be surprised Obama is not showing a whole lot of enthusiasm for American sovereignty. Just look at all the things we learned during the campaign. 20 years in a close relationship with a sick, racist, anti-American, hate spewing preacher. 15 year relationship with an anti-American terrorist. Cracks like "this is the first time Ive ever been proud of my country" and "American is a downright mean country" from his lovely wife. Refusal to wear the American flag on his lapel or cross his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance. Then what is his first act as President??? Freeing an assload of terrorists from Guantanamo! Where did he give his first formal interview? An Arab television station.

This is what happens when an extreme left wing socialist gets elected to office with an extreme left wing socialist Congress to smooth the way.

Ultimately tho, I blame the GOP and Bush. The GOP gets control of Congress and totally forgets why they got elected. They run up spending, double the size of government and pass as many left wing policies as the Dem's ever could (immigration, campaign finance reform, education bill). Then youve got Bush who, other than the war on terror and his tax cuts, did absolutely nothing. In an interest to "get along" and make sure everybody liked him, he signed every hair brained bill sent down the pike, refused to stand up to illegal immigration, refused to do anything when gas prices started to skyrocket and so on.

So since the GOP proved to be pretty much worthless the conservative base stayed home on election day and the Dem's take over and its all downhill and to the left from here.

4 trillion dollar budgets, 10 trillion dollar deficits, tax raises during a recession, freeing terrorists, socialized health care. But hey - he gives a good speech.

I need to educate myself? Years of Republican propaganda have blurred your vision. I said "started" not "was". It took years for the trickle down effect and yes the war but by that time unions were strong and the factories built that would power the US to world economic might. It was policies from several administrations earlier that made it happen. Just as this current situation is caused by years of Bush style policies. You have to spend money to make money. Given a chance by an open minded non brain washed public and at least two administrations Obama's policies will work. If America wants to return to the economic might it once was it needs to produce it's own goods and everyone needs a decent job with decent pay. The Republican policy makers would never allow it.

To my fellow Polkies who are American:
I apologize to anyone who may be offended by my political views. I have mine...you have yours. I really don't want to start a pissing match. I respect anyone's right to vote any way they wish. What I will never respect is anyone who doesn't vote and then wants to **** about things. My country is severely impacted by this crisis now. Obama, Mcain.. it doesn't matter, eventually greed takes over and they all end up scoundrels in the end. In Canada we've ping ponged back and forth between left and right for years. We're still in a mess with no end in site. Our current leader is a total idiot **** kisser. Bottom line is I should never have commented on this forum at all. I love this forum and even some of you people. Let's just leave it with some of us see it differently. I may be right or wrong. Who cares. I'm going to put a record on and enjoy the reason I come to this forum and let it all go.

I just wanted to get in before it got closed.

I didn't vote for Obama, but he has my support, as he is my president. I may not agree with all his policies, but hopefully we, as a people, will be able to turn this country around. To blame one person for this mess is ludicrous. Lets remember where the majority of this got started. Because of idiot AMERICANS who were living beyond their means and didnt know what they could...and could not afford.

where to begin on this one... the UNIONS were the vehicle by which the communists chose to infiltrate the american way of life with their socialst agenda, and as we see today, bankrupt the economic base of our country, force good paying jobs OUT of the U.S., thus weakening our economic and manufacturing might! The ONLY reason the Soviets never attacked us or otherwise provoke a full on military confrontation with us was precicely because our manufacturing power alone would be able to counter any threat anywhere on earth. The world has never before seen what we were able to bring to bear on two simultaneous fronts in WWII. this power needed to be undermined at all cost.... Next we take over the press and acedemia and begin a relentless campain of removing God from every facet of American life. We use the press to show america just how evil their government is so that they cry out in horror and vote for the leftists. Once in power in sufficient quantity, the start passing laws and regulations making it possible to completely disregard the very sanctity of life, rules that force businesses to relocate over-seas, and make it ok to teach Sally has two mommies to 3rd graders. And the press helps all the way by disclosing top secret information to our ENEMIES!!! You want to say that this is the fault of GWB? As others have said, both sides share responsibility here, however it is the indoctrinated left that have been pulling the strings since the 1940s. Reagan tried to stop that too. If you want to educate yourself as to what the truth really is, read Reagan's autobiography in comparison to Bill Clinton's. The read The Way Things Aught to Be and See, I Told You So, both by Rush Limbaugh.
Compare Limbaugh's books to those written by Al Franken and Bill Maher. What you will find is that those books written by conservatives are filled with hope and inspiration, always seeing the best in America and wanting to raise the bar for everybody. The books written by liberals are filled with doom, gloom and dispair, pointing fingers at conservatives for the worlds problems and trying to convince the weak that their government should take care of them. Stop drinking the Kool-aide and do your OWN research, think for yourself and grow a pair!

for now anyway... those on the left will do away with free speach (fairness doctrine) and the right to keep and bear arms, unless you are a criminal, in which case you will get a stint in a mental hospital for re-education... I will stand and defend the freedom of this nation and her people against all enemies... sadly at this time our enemies appear to hold elected office.

The whole party system sucks. How can you properly represent constituents if you have to tow the party line 90% of the time? Democrat...Republican...who gives a crap? Toss out the parties and you will have a politician who must represent his electorate. Ban lobbying and political contributions of more than $1000.00 and far less pressure is on to do "favours". The whole system promotes greed and corruption.

Blah, blah, blah. All I want is my freedoms, small Fed Gvt and power back to the state and local gvt. What's good Indiana isn't necessarily what's good for Cali. What's good for Cali isn't necessarily what's good for Texas, and so on and so on. That's why America was great. If you didn't like it where you were, you could just move to another city, county, or state. If you wanted to be a polygamist, move to Utah. If you wanted to be a gunrack sporting, pickup truck driving, good-ole boy:cool:, you could move to Ark or Bama. If you wanted to be a pinko tree hugger, you could move to Cali:rolleyes:. If you wanted to marry your second cousin, you could move to several states(Ky., WV.,Tenn., Ga, Ms.);):p I kid, but you get where I'm coming from. BTW, I'm officially a Southern boy by birth and heart.

And even more specifically, what's good for NYC isn't necessarily good for the wilderness in upstate NY.

Give it whatever name you want, but I'm on Noel's team on this one. Whatever party wants to give a more localized government and respects individual freedoms, I'm there.
