I didnt know there was such a huge HP difference in the kawi and yamaha.

Looks great to me! Just get a fender eliminator and pipe...but Im biased, as I have its little brother :)

My biggest complaint is the HIDEOUS mirrors. The blinkers remind me of a fat ladys arm.

Looks like I'm getting a new bike as well. Got a deal I can't pass up and worked a great insurance rate with my new insurance agent.

Well, it's another Honda for me. 3rd in a row, and I am keeping my old bike as well.

New but it's a 2008 model. $6999 + tax on a new CBR1000RR, I can't pass that up. $60 a month to insure both that and my CBR1100XX. XX is going to have liability only, full coverage on the RR.

There's four of us getting one, everyone already has a bike. Just too good of a deal. Luckily we all picked different colours... :)

0.99% financing as well from Honda.

There is only one power cruiser....nothing old or new has ever even come close if you wanted some grunt in your right hand and wanted a cruiser. I have never been the cruiser type , but the first time I rode a Vmax they had to pull the smile off of my face. :D

You could unplug 2 of the new Vmax's spark plugs and still have more power then that " Mean Streak " ....its an honest 200 horsepower V4.

I was flying by one of those VMax's in my XX during the track day. I didn't expect it to keep up on the turns but I was expecting more of it on the straights. Maybe the guy was just afraid to drive it.

He was afraid :) The older ones had really small diameter fork tubes and were a bit of a handful cornering and braking somewhat, but that motor has always been a monster. The other thing was it was so easy to launch at the dragstrip, here I was fighting to keep the front of my FJ1100 anywhere near the ground during a launch...and that Vmax just took off like a bat out of hell.

That guy was probably terrified of the Vboost system, the older Vmax's had a servo system that allowed each cylinder to breath from 2 carbs instead of one on each intake stroke at 6,000 rpm and above. It was pretty abrupt, awesome in a straight line but if you hit that transition in a corner it was bad news ( I liked it though...second gear power slides were awesome...dirt track style ) ....he was just afraid is all.

With just a Kerker exhaust installed, my buddy did high 10 second quarter mile times with his all Wed night long...best I could do on his Vmax was around 11.13 or so ( My buddy weighed only 140 soaking wet...I had 100 pounds on him ) So yeah, even the older ones were beasts...this new 200 HP version with a much better chassis is something I would kill for to take for a spin :)

I am sure he was afraid at least a little but since there was no passing allowed on the morning session, I followed him on the turns and when it was time to open the throttle on the straights either he didn't or he had it in wrong gear. It was a new VMax and I was on a 1100XX with basic mods (pipes + PFC), around 170hp would be my estimate. He did surprisingly well on the turns.

I'm getting my 1000RR tomorrow, red/black. My wife got me an early b-day present and got a new helmet to match the colors. Not so sure about the helmet livery though as I am not in my 20's anymore. :)

Make sure you check to see if the recall work has been performed on your honda ( Or if its later in the 08 production year and doesnt require the work ) ...major one is the clutch...others werent recalls just minor tsb type stuff.

Should be done according to the seller, other had something to do with oil consumption. I will take it to a local Honda dealer for first service and tell them to double check as well.

I thought you got in on that awesome sale at the dealer ?? I went to two local dealers and they were all out of
them except one used 08. I also went into Ducati and damn near rode off with a hypermotard...but I really have to wait till my back is completely healed. :(

Yes, I got it from a dealer in Oklahoma. They arrived yesterday and I'll head down there tomorrow with a trailer. We're getting 4 bikes total. One of each color. :)

Got mine home today. I do have to burn out the rear tire, it's way too slippery, then I can go for a serious ride. A 1000cc bike in 600cc body, that's how I would describe it. Light and very powerful but also seems to lack torque down low like a 600cc does. Once it gets past 7k it revs up quite scarily for such a light framed bike. Will be a different ride from the XX for sure.
