Really? The Street Triple and the Daytona 675 are both winning all kinds of awards. I thought Sherardp might be looking for something different. That exhaust note is one of the prettiest I've ever heard too.For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -

I saw KTM @ Motegi when I went to MotoGP race. I'll start shopping this weekend. In no rush to buy as I dont mind sitting it out for a few though the summer will suck without riding. I'm building the top 5 by what you guys mention here, as I dont mind something different. I do appreciate all the feedback.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

1. Desmosedici
2. KTM RC-8
3. BMW 1100S
4. Aprillia
5. Triumph or new R1
Or you could just go all out and get a two or three of your top five.George Grand wrote: »

Is this bike for image, or actual performance? There are japanese bikes that will outperform these, at much lower cost. They also have far better aftermarket support for increasing the performance well beyond stock.

what awards? The 675 got dead last in a comparison that just came out:

Well, it was international bike of the year when it was released a couple years back...and I believe it won most of the comparison tests in 06, 07, and 08.
That shootout you quoted was somewhat biased against the Triumph because the bike was tested without any factory support like the other bikes had. They still gave it quite a few accolades for handling, usable low end power, sound, etc.
The Street Triple is definitely winning shootouts for 2008/9.
Besides, Sherard never really said he was only looking at brand new bikes. He acted like he was looking for something different and didn't really say new or used. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -

I'm looking 08,09, and 2010 models. Bike is being bought on performance basis, not just looks. I actually like to get out there and bend corners, get the blood flowing.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

That clears things up then...
I don't think you could go wrong with any of the bikes that have been suggested. They will all stir up the adrenaline pump.
I actually sold my SV tonight too (for a very nice profit), and might be looking for something else to fill the garage. It won't be an 08 or newer though...For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -

Just be careful bro This coming from a fellow knee puck scraper with the same disease...but still it needs mentioned. That being said, you HAVE to ride the new R1 before your purchase...I havent yet...but will have one of 2 friends with one soon and I cant wait to try that motor. The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -

Well, After less than a week without my SV (fixer upper/flipper project), I decided to get another SV. This one will probably be a keeper since it already has tons of mods. It has a full M4 system, a full GSXR1000 front end, F3 rear wheel conversion (to allow up to 180 tire), new Barnett clutch, new Vortex sprockets, new RK Gold chain, etc, etc. Shouldn't need too much other than a new front tire and a few other small things. Price, not much more than the last one I got that needed so much work! Picking it up on Monday. Will have pics later. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I can't seem to find billbill kinda deals on a GSXR. I've bought both my SV's for a combined price less than what an average '00-'02 GSXR would go for.
I also don't like the full out race position. Too hard on my wrists. I like the V-twin sound+low/mid grunt, and I really don't need to go much faster than 100 either. 70 HP is more than enough for me. My wife and two small children need me around for years to come. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -

Any decisions for a new bike Sherardp?
I picked up my latest SV yesterday. Had to drive 560 miles round-trip, but it was worth it for the price. Much nicer than my last one. Still needs a little work, but it was basically a free bike (bought with profits from the sale of my previous SV project).
These will be the 'before' pics.
I haven't even had a chance to clean it up yet. Its been a bit neglected since the previous owner bought a Gixxer last fall. He just fell out of love with the old SV. I have plans to make her special again

Reviving my old thread from the dead as I have been wanting a bike since the day I let my Agusta go. Anyway I dropped a deposit on a new 09 ZX10R tonight. My dealer says he will hold for it until I return and I can pay the rest when I return in two weeks. Heres what she looks like. I'm still not sure about the bike in white, but it's the only US spec I can get my hands on right now.
I never owned a ZX10 but I heard wild things about them, like definite in your face power, so I'm looking forward to putting it down in the curves and seeing what it can do. What you guys think? 2009 R1 is said to be 22hp behind on the 10R, which is my other option.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I drove two different '09 R1's last year for about a few hrs or so (my friends owned one each) and I'd say it felt....'lighter' and a bit more agile as opposed to my '04 ZX9R. I loved the way it handled driving up the California coast line and how responsive it was on sharp turns, much better than my kawi. I can imagine the ZX10R being a totally different bike compared to my '04 but I very much liked the R1 in many ways. Aside from that, I recall reading about the CBR1k being the top model for 09 with Yammie coming next and then Kawi on Motorcyclist magazine.Truck setup

Polk SR6500
Polk SR5250
Polk SR104Any clue how to use the internet? Found it in about 10 sec. -
Yeah I may have to do some homework and see what gives. I have seen the new CBR and can say for sure it won't be a Honda that I buy. I'll either go Yammie again or try the Kawi. My gut is saying "try something different", but the 09 Yammy is a totally new bike with a different engine design so I'm stomped again. That ZX10 looks pretty sharp though. I'll do my normal mods (pipe it, drop weight, increase brake performance, etc) and it should ride like a charm.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!
