I use to be like Dan, but I just became a statistic and joined the ranks of the unemployed so now I'm in the Paranoid class.

I am none of the above. I am a realist.

Realist: A person interested in what is real and practical rather than what is imaginary or theoretical. A person who objectively evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of things.

Pessimist: A person inclined to see only difficulties and disadvantages or to look on the dark side of things. A person who feels that life holds more evil than good.

Optimist: A person inclined to see only the positive, bright side of things. A person who believes that everything will turn out for the best.

Paranoid: A person whose mental condition tends toward paranoia.

Paranoia: A mental disorder characterized by continuing, elaborate delusions of persecution or grandeur that are logically and consistently developed. People suffering from paranoia maintain their intelligence, although paranoia is a chronic form of insanity whose symptoms approach schizophrenia.

I'd also have to say I'm a realist. The glass isn't half full or empty, it's just half a glass.

Maybe I just wanted half a glass, or my wife drank the other half because she was too lazy to get her own half a glass.....

It can vary from time to time, but generally I'm an optimist. I like to keep a positive outlook on things for the most part. I'm always open to different possibilities.

You're looking at the wrong problem. The glass isn't half full or half empty. The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

I may have to revise my opinion, here. Does being a realist mean 'accepting' reality? Because if it does count me out. That's too small-minded for me.

Pedestrian, maybe. But you have to be able to 'see' past what is if you want to get to what can be!

I need to have a few questions answered before I can answer

    who designed the glass
what is the purpose of the glass
how did the contents get into the glass
was the glass designed for the contents
    who supplied the contents
    what are the contents
what are the contents used for
what is the correct amount of content needed
how long has the glass been sitting there
did it used to be full
did it used to be empty
    will the contents be consumed

and last but not least - where did all my f*^%$g contents go while everyone was running around trying to find the answers.
