I need to have a few questions answered before I can answer

    who designed the glass
what is the purpose of the glass
how did the contents get into the glass
was the glass designed for the contents
    who supplied the contents
    what are the contents
what are the contents used for
what is the correct amount of content needed
how long has the glass been sitting there
did it used to be full
did it used to be empty
    will the contents be consumed

and last but not least - where did all my f*^%$g contents go while everyone was running around trying to find the answers.

I drank everthing in my glass, took some from someone elses bottle and filled it back up and drank all of that too (I did promise to replace it). I'm now waiting for President Obama to fill my glass back up for me and take care of filling up the bottle I borrowed from as well. Based on this...I must be a glass always full sort of guy.

    Optimist.

I'm a solution finder, not a whiner. Anybody can find fault with anything--no talent needed for that. You wanna impress me, FIX the problem. My kids grew up on my saying "For every problem, there IS a solution."

I've got a solution for depression. Take a walk thru a childrens cancer clinic some time. Talk about life short-changing someone---yet they are some of the most heroic, brave, and hopeful little people you'll ever meet. Your depression (aka "self-pity") should fade quickly after that...

Throw me in the realist group.

But, given current circumstances, you'd have to be an optimist to be anything but pessimistic about things right now.

So, I'm a pessimist for the time being which is realist.

I do know I'm not a nihilist, or existentialist, or existential nihilist. . . yet.

I am usually a realist with a hint of optimism...but I can't seem to find that optimism anywhere. I always lose things.

Optimist: A person inclined to see only the positive, bright side of things. A person who believes that everything will turn out for the best.
I always was an optimist; As I age I tend to be somewhere in between optimistic and realistic but the question is which one now drives me the most? The answer lies in the above definition which still defines me/best describes me. Therefore, I can still say I am an optimist!

I have to be honest and point out that even with this hardship, I am yet very fortunate as it hasn't hit me as hard as it did for many. I feel for them and therefore the best way to react is to realize how fortunate I am and how full my glass is!

I am Canadian and with the present economy I have to admit I could have a much harder time as I could be a US citizen and having to face this fallen economy head on/first line (yet Canadians only feels the bottom of the wave). Therefore, I stlill look at it in an optimistic way and think that if my US cousin has a half full glass and still courageously fight, it means that at this time my glass is slightly more than half full and instead of feeling sorry for my self about my glass not being full I prefer being content with my nearly full glass and feel for my cousin which glass isn't as full at this time and am confident that my cousin's glass will be full again in a very near future.

For me being optimistic ("everything will turn out for the best") always seemed to be some natural but with years became a fact as Hardships took many forms, happened on many occasions during my many years and ALWAYS turned out for the best! Therefore for me being optimistic is also being realistic. Nothing is ever perfect while it is always for the best! Hang on cousins, there is light at the end of the tunnel, better times are at the door ;)

For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else.
