True that Wes. I turned the AC on in my car because I had dressed up with a long sleeve shirt thinking it was in the 60's only to find out it was 83 degrees at my house.

    NotaSuv,

I'm in Maine so I understand! It was -18 yesterday morning when my wife got up to drive our daughter to school..with no wind chill.

Thankfully, at least, heating oil is no longer 4.69 a gallon as it was over summer! Minnesota, though, doesn't get the occasional break in arctic cold that we do as the Atlantic current pushes the Canadian mass north every so often.

I remember one night years ago visiting a friend in Bangor, getting ready to return home with the non-windchill temps at -36. The gear box in my car was frozen and I couldn't shift into first. I had to wait a half-hour for the car to warm up enough to be able to drive it.

    your,

-10 this morning. My house was built in the 60's. Single pane glass with storm windows, no match for the cold. Ice on the inside of the window about 3 inches up. Guess it's time to get some replacement windows. I was working outside yesterday building a pole barn at -8. Not too bad if your dressed for it.

we use the heat stretch plastic film by 3M that goes on the inside of the window using double stick tape...use a blow dryer to make it tight..sounds like a drum head when done...our house from the late 40's same crap windows....use storms but they are a loose fit....the plastic stops the ice and keeps ALOT of cold out....

Ben, it sounds as if NotaSuv was referring to your ex in his previous post.

I may have to file this post in the "Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time" folder.

.....yeah, I'll probably have to do that.

......I suppose it's too late for an "Ooops !".

This is due to the humidity being high in your house? We have a 2yr old home and when it gets super cold we get sweat on our windows and then it freezes. So I lowered the humidifier we have on our furnace and now not much at all.

Usually in the winter, I turn the de-humidifier down because the air gets pretty dry in the house if I don't. This is my 12th winter here and the first time I noticed that I had ice on the inside of the windows. You're right, it is caused from cold and humid/warm.

Well...my A/C on my truck still works. I haven't had to turn on the A/C on the house yet. The only thing I hate about it being this warm in the day is that the nights aren't as crisp when it's 60 out. :(
