eBay to accept PayPal only

It seems that eBay has gone over the edge. They will no longer allow payments to be made by check or MO, only PayPal or your own credit card with few exceptions.

Did not know. I just had a bad deal on the bay, and I am nervous about leaving bad feedback in fear of my 100% getting tarnished:mad:

Well, eBay has another newer rule. Sellers cannot leave negative feedback, only buyers can.

Sweet. Negative feedback will be sent:) The jerk sent me some puter speakers that I won real real cheap. To be honest I didn't even want to win, but the price was so low. Well anyway the speakers get here and are in just peanuts. The sub(big) is full of them, and the grill is bent. The Planer sats were not covered either and just floating in the peanuts:rolleyes: So I go to work on the sub amp. He clearly staed the amp did not work. So I go to plug it in, and there are bare wires in 3 spots on the 120v cord:eek: The dude never mentioned that it was a shock hazzard! Well he got smart with me, and I was planning on leaving bad feedback even if it reflected negatively on me. Now I will be happy too!
    Thanks Bro

Yup, a fairly recent modification too, so off you go Ben: sink that scammer!

I wonder if the new PayPal only rule is so that they can better control problem sales (how to they negotiate a refund from a seller for a bad transaction if it was paid by check or MO?). They may just be trying to clean things up. Just a thought ... in their defense.

I think you are right about PayPal. As for that dude I can not beleive that he is 100%, and was as much of a jerk as he was:confused:

I am doing some tweaking on my SDA's. I added a resistor in series with the SDA inductor to widen the sound stage. I am thinking of adding a switch to make it more controllable:) My inductor is very low DCR so I figured that it may be hampering the SDA effect, and I was right, but I still need to tune;) I was listening to some Roger Waters, and it sounded like some of the material was coming from behind me! Not out of place, but uniform:eek: It's been a long time since I have had it running this good!!!

They own Paypal and make a commission off of every PayPal payment. I don't think it's rocket science to see their real motivation here.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

well its almost getting needless to say but

    PAYPAL SUCKS

I am pretty sure it is not possible to refuse to take direct payment of legal tender as payment for a legitimate debt. I hardly ever use Ebay so no big deal to me, but to others I am sure adding paypal fees is a legitimate concern. Follow the money trail, I suspect that this will also allow a better tracking method for reporting income to Uncle Sam.

    I hope Ebay dies.

The paypal percentage of sale model is now creeping into the market, take Audiogon, you pay for an ad to sell something and now they want to be partners with you and get a percentage of the sale. Hopefully, the recession will put an end to bullying business practices. The practice of charging consumers for the use of a product is more and more prevelant, they are simply call fees and surcharges, started by Uncle and spreading.

Well, whenever I buy something from ebay, I only use Paypal, so no problem here.

Paypal buyer protection has already refunded me twice due to purchases gone wrong, for a total of close to $1,200.

I'm sure most of that money came from the 3% they've charged Ted and others here ;)

I think I can unerstand the 3% charge==I may be off base but if I understand this correctkly , if you have the ability to take Credit Card paments directly from somebody's CC, you have to pay for that service to Mastercard, Visa , etc. And you have to pay for each CC type with separate accounts if you want to be able to accept multiple kinds. And you get charged a % for each sale. So having an upcharge based on payment type is not new. It's why a lot of pizza shops and the like still don't take credit cards.

PayPal allows you to use your CC to pay for paypal--they have to bear the upcharge to the Credit Card bank as a middle man. Somebody has to pay for thet Credit Card charge.

For Paypal to sit in the middle to allow you to do that and save you the monthly costs associated with being able to accept CC and avoid handling people's CC #s and the assiated costs with protecting that information, not to mention the fallout for a spillage-I think 2.9% is not a bad deal.

What I don't agree with is how PP continues to charge the same amount whether as a buyer you use Direct Debit, or use a PP balance. I think they should be a lower %, and it shouldn't matter whether the seller has an upgraded PP account or not. In some cases the PP charge might be 0% depending on the circumstance, but some sellers will still tack on an upcharge anyway.

While I am not an eBay seller and am not completely familiar with the pricing tiers, I would hope that eBay offers discounted listing pricing, etc, when forced or even electively choosing to use PP only as the payment options. But I doubt that would happen.

    PAYPAL SUCKS

I agree with Ted on this one. I don't have a paypal account...I don't want a paypal account...I'm not getting a paypal account. I have a credit card to use on any and all purchases. If I'm scammed I will dispute it with my CC company. It really doesn't matter because I only use ebay for small, inexpensive, inconsequential items (usually well under $100) so there is no real financial issue if it doesn't work out.

I have been on ebay since 1999 and have 438 all pos FB.
I have never had a bad dealings yet (knock on cheap pine :) ) both buying and selling.
That aside I think it's BS to take away PPl's other option of payment for their greed.
While having paypal is handy it shouldn't be the only form of payment!!
Dunno what brought this on other than GREED.
Also not fair that they corner the web in the "top dog" in auction places then lower the boom on their users like this!

Shouldn't surprise any of us....that's the corperate way of doing biz and it sux!

MAYBE they will see error in their ways and allow alternate forms of payment again but I wouldn't hold my breath!

I'm sure the Feds and states have something to do with this.
The Feds want info for income tax reporting. Big sellers are
being watched now. The states want to make sure they get
their sales tax. Cash deals are hard to keep track of.
I'm sure Paypal can get the feds a nice printout.
