And if they truly don't they burnt some many bridges behind them no one cares anymore, why because they brought a Honda, Toyota and been happy since.

Now saying that should the America Car manufactures fail, should they fail I say not. Can I support them no, do I feel I should support them no.

Agree with ya man and neons if that is someones impresesion of a "good american car" let me start laughing now.

Actually, it's not hard to keep up to date when you drive rentals from time to time. IMHO, and it's JMO, so don't get excited or anything, but I think the American mid-size cars offered by rental companies are not equivalent to a mid-size Hyundai offered by the same rental companies.

I tried to buy American just two years ago. It was impossible because I couldn't get the options I wanted unless I bought the V8 version, not the V6. Audi, Saab, Volvo, VW, Acura and Mercedes-Benz all had better options, with half the cost of depreciation for resale.

LOL, that's like telling the sun NOT to rise in the east tomorrow...

As for American cars not being junk for the last 15 years, let's see my luck:

1996 Dodge Neon we had was a total POS, too many problems to even talk about. Owned two years

1999 Chevy Cavalier was a POS, less problems than the Neon, but still major issues. Owned two years.

Now both cars above were the lower end cars, but both were borderline undriveable within the first 60K miles or so. The AC went out in both cars, which is not a good thing in Texas. The Neon developed transmission problems where it would slip when shifting gears.

How about a Jeep Grand Cherokee, maybe that'll be better than the cheapie cars, we got the limited edition with a 5.9 liter V8. It hauled some major ****! Transmission went out, had to replace the front tie rod twice, still had a popping sound in the front end that nobody ever figured out, and several 'little' problems along the way - all this before the car hit 100K miles! Owned almost 3 years.

I've never owned a Ford, but a guy 3 doors down from us at our last place had his entire house burned to the ground when his F150 burst into flames IN HIS GARAGE! The really messed up part is that it wasn't even running, and luckily nobody was home. Apparently he had a bad cruise control module in his truck, which is what they think caused the fire. I told a guy at work about it and he said his truck had been recalled for the same issue, but apparently the parts they needed to fix it were on severe backorder - their solution, just inplug the cruse control module, or disable it or whatever.

2004 Toyota 4Runner. 100K miles. Absolutely not a single mechanical problem since we've owned it, literally zero problems.

I've always been OCD about taking care of all our cars, both from a maintenance perspective and a cleaning perspective. I've never missed a single oil change or scheduled maintenance item on any of our cars, and we live in the same environment and have driven the same roads with all our vehicles, so we can rule out that kind of stuff as contributing factors.

I'm certainly not saying that my experience applies to everyone or is true universally, it's just MY experience, simple as that. I'd be open to trying another American car someday, but only after I'm satisfied that I won't have reliability problems.

All that being said, recent studies have certainly shown improvement in some American cars, for example Buick is rated right up there with Lexus in terms of defects. I don't know anything about Buick, but I certainly wouldn't rule them out on the basis of reliability at this point, for example...

It can't even be described how much the S2K outclasses that car.

S2k > then a Neon now Honda had finally done something right..... it is two different class cars Just from looking at spec

    S2k has 2004 Model
    Control
    2.2-Liter VTEC® Engine
    237 Horsepower
    High X-Bone Monocoque Frame
    Beauty
    Aerodynamic Shape
    Sleek Lines
    Chiseled Nose
    S2000 CR
    Removable Aluminum Hardtop
    Track-Oriented Suspension
Front Underbody and Rear Wing Spoilers

now they are nice looking cars they are but I am 6,4" 240 pounds and the s2k is not comfortable to me I hate driving like fred flintstone. now if i was like 5,10" going threw mid life crissies, I may have one for 40,000.....

2004 Neon Srt-4 or Skittle Aka POS to public,4Banger,Hoopdie,and what ever else you could think of.

    Standard Engine 2.4L 230 hp I4
    Horsepower 230 @ 5300 RPM
    Torque (lb-ft) 250 @ 2200 RPM
    Transmissions 5 Speed
No real fancy options - besides Sunroof,a/c power windows, Kicker Audio System, and nice bucket seats.

This horse power is actually being put to the ground as the S2k is only getting a average of 200 to the wheels,.

it is a affordable car performance wise 21,000 out the door

So I am done defending the Neon... the woman thing if you had any "game" to say you could pick up a nice/good looking girl in a KIA.

You guys remind me of one night down in SC. I was sitting at a red light when two ricers pull up beside me, one in the fast lane and one in the middle lane. I'm in the slow lane just chillin'. Well, I noticed these two cars are revving their engines and pulling inch by inch up to the line at the start of the intersection. These were both cars with stickers and wings that rose above the height of the roof, and we all know how that increases horsepower.

So, as I'm sitting there at the intersection for about two minutes I notice that they both now have their windows down and are yelling at each other, pointing down the road as if they were going to race. I figured what the hell? They had not noticed me whatsoever sitting next to them at the intersection, so I would join in the fun.

We all hit the gas when the light turned red and I had already scoped out the area for cops, so it was pedal to the medal. At the next light about a 1/2 mile down the road, I was completely stopped and waiting when they both pulled up. The look on both of their faces was absolutely priceless.

As mentioned before..........I drive a truck.
