Just looked it up. 1.75g of force. That's for the MMF-5 though.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Well with the dial at anything less than 6 it just skates. I'll give the shop a call tomorrow. I have the kids anyway.

What the hell. I asked this on the Vinyl Engine.....concerning anti-skating and the weight.

Could you put another scratch on the pre just for Chuck? I hear he likes his stuff like that. That way, he concentrates on the music and not the gear.
Don't do me any favors man.

The dial on the counterweight should be set from 15 - 20 Mn. When I began with mine, it was set to about 17.5. Ortofon suggests it be set at 1.75g, which converts to 17.5 Mn.
The portion of the manual that deals with the anti-skate weight contradicts itself. I'm at work right now, but if I remember correctly, at one point it tells you to put the string for the weight at the end of the pin, in another it tells you to put it on the middle notch of the pin. I have mine on the middle notch. If everything is set up the way it says in the manual, and the arm is still flying off the the album, try bending the arm that the counterweight string pivots on.Wristwatch--->Crisco -
oh my goodnes Ben, all this talk of weights and grams and forces, ok, you had the table playing, you said it sounded great, so the weights and forces were ok. As you were wanking around the table and playing with stylus cover on and moving this and moving that is it the least bit possible you fat fingered it and moved the cartridge? Did it come with a protractor to check?
