    Ben,

Strider has one. He likes it but he recommended the Pro-Ject Xpression III to me because it has more flexibility and some better components from the get go. He has upgraded components to his that may have brought the total investment close to the cost of an Xpression. I paid $512 delivered to my house from Needle Doctor. YMMV.
I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

$299 is high for me at this time, but vinyl is my new crack. I have been reading some reviews, and I think I am taking a road trip tomorrow;)

Ben, you will want to upgrade if you buy this TT. Wait, save, and buy something higher in the food chain. You know how this is.....

Rich sent me a link to all that is going on with this TT. I know the platter sucks (10" steel) that will need to be changed out to a 12" acrylic, and the Cartridge is pretty weak. The cables are not interchangeable from what I see(you know how this makes me feel), but If I don't mess with anything I get a 100% trade in allowance toward the next upgrade. So I am not sure if I am going to tweak, or replace, but I am going two channel, and spending this much is just about beyond stretching it;)

    Ben,
I still think you'd be better off getting an SL-1200mk2 used. I wouldn't go to a belt drive until you can spend well over $500 to get something like an older VPI, Sota, Oracle, or similar.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Congrats Ben, I have read many good reviews on the Project, enjoy it. I seem to recall Project offered an outboard power supply that was well received with the table.

I remember when the vinyl jones first hit me back a few years ago, I drove about 250 miles round trip to pick up the table, could not wait to get it and get back into the vinyl.

You done good. I think that pro-ject will keep you satisfied for quite a while. Even if/when you get the upgrade bug you will probably lose very little of your investment seeling it on the used market.

Edit: Actually considering imported audio products and the US dollar you might actually turn a profit on it some day. Sorta.

    Looks good, man!

    Enjoy.

I'm curious as to why, bill, that you think that if you are going belt driven that you should wait to a certain price point? Just curious is all.....

IMO, the biggest improvement is when you isolate the motor from the plinth, then, yes, I agree with that.

Congrats Ben! You have a good start, and you control where it leads. You might even consider building your own TT someday. Start with a Teres bearing and platter, and build a massive base out of wood like Galibier Design and Teres do. You are very electronics savvy, and could build your own speed box.

Well Time in a bottle just about made my tear up. I think of my two little girls that are growing faster than I care for. The new table has a lot more action like symbols, and guitar details. The strumming is sweet. This is way worth the occasional tick, and pop. Its a little to early to really review this thing. I am keeping my ears on it. I have had a few problems with the anti skating. It seems to pull the needle in too much. I have the down force set to 7, but I have no idea what I am doing. Its pretty tough compared to hitting play on a CD, but the liveliness is much better than digital. I'll get it. Hopefully a Polkie in the area can help out.

Well the guide says 17.5, but it also refers to the anti skating. Is this what I set the dial to after balancing it out?

Coolness to the 3rd degree Ben! But I would make 2 suggestions. #1. You really need larger speakers. #2. Do not use an Outlaw 990 as a pre for this table.

Why are you asking about the table's set-up? Didn't they set it up for you before you left? Why do you HAVE to monkey around with it? I see a trip back to the store in the near future or a visit from a polkie with a handful of goodies to get you back up and running. The only thing I noticed with my Debut when I got it was the anti-skate weight's cable/line was touching the tonearm when almost all the way over to the end of an album. A small tweaking of the anti-skate and I was fine.

    Chuck

    BTW........have fun Bro.
