get on you tube do a search and watch the **** go..... It smokes anything you put against it even a crotch rocket. I was watching a British program about fast expencive cars and that was the one of them and it has an onboard program that when you push the button and hold the gas to the floor it will do all the work and adjust the shift and power curves so it will always perform the same time after time, just release the button while holding the gas to the floor will give any and all the ride of their life. Is said to be the fastest production car ever built.

FYI: Latest Car&Driver issue had a shootout between the GT-R, the M3, and the 911 Turbo. Guess what, the M3 won. Not because it was the fastest around a track, but because it was the best all around driving car.

Why not a Nissan? One of the most realible cars ever. There service history is Impressive like most Japanese. If you can get that kind of style, performance out of a 70k Nissan , why not? Porsche is 2x the money and spends time in the shop. So does the Corvette at 70k. Chevy is one of the worse cars on the road. Olds went out of bussiness in 2001 for being the worse car on the road.

If you compare it to other cars, it's value goes way up. Like I said though, driving it will be the real judgement, not spec's and pictures. I have owned 3 Nissans and not one gave me any trouble, I'm ready to buy one last family ride before I get into the GTR.

It's been awhile since I actually got excited for a car. My BMW was the last and it's not like this.

I watched all the video's I could find on it. I saw that one as well. it's juicy. Kinda makes you wanna sell you entire system and get it now.LOL

It's definitely a sexy car. I've been looking forward to its release. I've been driving it a lot on GT5: Prologue too.

One question... did you consider the Corvette Z06? If so, what changed your mind to the Nissan? If not, why the hell not? For me, even though I'm not a domestic fan in general, it's a lot more car for $70k.

As much as I like the vette, I don't want the baggage of a GM car. Corvette is the best GM offers(along with Caddy) and they have 2 many problems. With Nissan you get a solid long time performer car that will last as long as you want to own it. I like that alot. It's alot of car for the money.

I also like the BMW m5 but it's out of my price range. I also like the BMW550i which would be great as it has 4 doors and is a performance car to boot. It's price is around the GT4 and does alot more but isn't as fast or a pure sports car.

Again I'm just looking around with no Intent to buy right now. My next car will most likely be the Nissan Murano. The GT4 is just breath taking and it took mine. My wife even likes it which is a easy sell.

What rest? There won't be any left once you go through the import hassle and expenses, quite the opposite.

If you think the GT-R will be reliable like a Maxima, your sadly mistaken. There is no way you can turbo charge a motor to that extreme and maintain 200,000 mile reliability. Also, since it is a brand new model that is largely made with new parts, you don't get the benefit of a tried and true parts bin. I expect major reliability problems, especially in the early production runs.

BTW, I'm generally not a big GM fan, but I know this:
Olds wasn't dropped because it was one of the worst cars. In fact, at the time GM decided to drop Olds, that brand had some of the best cars made by GM. GM eliminated Olds to save money and they thought that Olds had the weakest brand loyalty. At the time Olds went bye bye, they had the Intrigue, Aurora, and Alero. At the time, those were about the only GM models (aside from the Vette) that were receiving any praise from the critics and/or magazines.

That's totally different. Try to import a JDM vehicle into USA and it will cost you. EPA will most likely be hardest, not sure if DOT will consider US spec to be considerably similar to waive crash testing but I wouldn't count on it.

That's why. Just like the Corevette, the GT-R is a poor-mans rich car. I don't care what's under the hood, if you're spending that kind of cash, and I mean cash, no financing with a cost like that you best pick something that's got a first class logo on the hood, and Nissan doesn't have it.

Also, I thought I read that not all Nissan dealers can work on this car, only certain shops designed specifically for it. I could be wrong here but I'm almost certain I read that...somewhere.

I'm not sure on that man. I had a 1987 Buick Grand National with a 3.8 Turbo which I modified with a larger T49 turbo, Bigger Intercooler(Dutweller)40lb Injectors, Muscle fuel pump , 3 inch down pipe, Adjustable Boost dial, Art car transmission, Art car U joints, Drive shaft Loop , S10 Brake Cylinders ,K&N air filter with a modified intake Polished and ported matching , Exhaust porting . This car went 11.66 in the 1/4 mile and had 168k on the engine before I lost a bottom bearing. It was a monster and built by GM. The car sucked as everything else broke on it including mad electricial problems as it would shut down for no reason like someone disconnected the battery and alt. But I was making over 400 HP on a factory Turbo charged engine and I raced it all the time. 2 nights a week at the track and countless street races.

With that in mind, I don't support your theory. With Nissan building this car, I have the same opnion as the Maxima. I will not be at the local track with it abusing it like the Buick.

MY turbo/diesel is rated for 350,000 miles before it's first service and that is for adjusting the valve lash. The motor is rated for 325hp/615lbs/torque.

With my aftermarket goodies I am just above 408/HP 830lbs.torque, and I get 24mpg on the highway. I see 30-40lbs of boost every day

So with that, I don't support your theory of high boost = low reliability.
They have had turbochargers on semi's as well as gas engines for close to 50yrs and millions of miles of R&D.

I do agree with your comment on the price gouging, for example look at gt 500/Shelby mustangs, the rerelease of the challenger and Camero, or evne when the first run of the viper.

Any of those cars is splitting hairs. Most people could never drive any of them close to their potential on a race track and on public roads its like, whats the point.

So really you are just buying image, do you want to be a porsche guy, bmw guy or nissan guy. Me being mr practical I would just buy a Lexus and call it a day.

Turbocharged a 99 Dodge Dakota RT 360...prem unleaded..drove the piss out it....took it to the track at least once a month...put on over 95,000 miles and never a problem, beside the front end ball joints...engine started in -25 to 105 never overheated......had same compression the day I sold it as the day it was bought...on the hwy 24-26mph...
