Polkies never fail to amaze me with how cheap they are. If you want to stay somewhere cheaper than what's listed on the main Polkfest page, its at your own risk. See you at Polkfest!

Do hotels have rooms cheaper then $100 anymore? I don't even think Motel 6's are that cheap still.

Mark's suggestions of the BWI airport area, the Inner Harbor or the Pikesville Hilton are going to be your best choices. Baltimore is a big city, with big city prices. The cheap places are not in areas that you'd want to stay.

For those that want something special (read expensive, but worth it), check out http://www.hendersonswharf.com/inn/

It's in historic Fells Point, right on the water with great views of the Inner Harbor/Federal Hill area. It's within easy walking distance to great restaurants and a ton of bars dotting the Fells Point area, which is really a neat area.

what's the airport part of Baltimore called? What's the part of the city where Polk HQ is located? any major highways between the two? I like to stay outside of the city most times.. but within reason..

I'm certainly open to booking a room where other polkies are staying too. It would suck if all the Polkies were spread out at 12 different hotels.

*side note: please understand that some of us are traveling a long distance.. just to make it to PF08. We're not within driving distance.. and some of us have to arrive on Thurs and leave on Sunday.. as the earliest just to partake in the whole event. It's not inexpensive for some of us to travel back and forth over a 4 day period, hotel for 3 nights, food, car rental, etc.

Just show a little compassion for those people traveling outside of the Baltimore metro area who are not familiar with the city. I wouldn't expect you to know what part of town to avoid in my city either. :)

That is a beautiful place Jesse; just not for this time. If I have time to enjoy a hotel, Polkfest is not what I thought it was :D

I booked in the Pikesville Hilton.

I have to agree with Mark. Stay near BWI as it's a pretty centralized location with easy access to major highways. The Arundel Mills Mall area...arf! Very expensive! Avoid it! Right at the Inner Harbor is VERY pricey also, but you are at the Inner Harbor.

As stated before, there are always areas you can stay in that are frequented by the hour and ocassionally bodies found hidden under the bed. Just put on a brown fedora, bring out the whip and get adventurous like Indiana Jones! :D

Where are you planning to come from (I-90 to I-80, or I-74 to I-70)???

If you are coming from I-90, I could meet you guys somewhere around Cleveland where I can safely park for a few days (airport sounds like a good idea).

If you are coming from I-74 and you don't mind driving another 30 minutes total you could pick me up, grab something for lunch, and listen to whatever speakers I own by that time :p. Or, I could meet you at Dayton airport.

Whichever way, count with me if there's room. Gas is not going to get cheaper.

Aaron (a_mattison) hasn't chimed in yet. But based on his current busy work schedule he will probably be a last minute addition if he can go. Or atleast he won't know until it gets a bit closer.

Ricardo you are welcome to ride the Midwest Express, not responsible for getting you there in one piece or at all!! :p:D. The more we have the lesser the cost of gas.
