Monitor 7c tweeters

I just got my Monitor 7cs deliverd to me that I won on ebay and boy am I pissed off!!!!
Both tweeters do not work and only 1 of the mid drivers seem to be working. I took out the tweeter on one of them and I found the magnet to it just lying in the speaker, completely separated. My question is can I just put it back on or does this mean that the tweeter is blown? I am going to check out the other speaker and see what the problem is with it.
Man 200.00 and they sound like junk!!!!!!!!

Sorry mike.
Your tweeter cap/coil should be screwed to the magnet. Replacememnt is the best thing... The mid drivers can also be replaced.
POlk has the RDO drivers that are better anyways...and the mw6503's that are replacememnt mid drivers...Monitor 7b's front

Unfortunally this is what happens a lot of the time when they are shipped. The drivers need to be taken out and be zipped tied or something before shipping. So I would not imagine he sold them to you like that but more likely they were damaged during shipping. Sorry to hear that. Hope you get them fixed soon.

These are better than the factory ones in my monitor 7's????
I am assuming polk carries them as a replacement?? If so what do they usually run in price???
Sorry to jump in your thread with questions but I was wondering if I could benefit from a mid driver replacement also. -
Do I just go to the polk web site to get all I need?
Thanks, but I am bummed!!!!! -
You need to call them and tell them you are a club polk member. They'll get you fixed quick. You'll get a discount and free 2 day shipping for mentioning your a club member.;)
-
Let me know what the mid drivers cost when you find out. Thanks
-
Thanks Nikolas I will do that right away. I am having a glass of Merlot to ease the pain and listening to Steely Dan on my Infinity RS3000 speakers. A little bright, but the bass is nice and tight. Always loved them!!!!!
-
Good for you.... Polk will get you taken care of and back in buisness in no time.;)
-
I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the 7's. Though I have the model with the peerless tweeters I am assuming the sound will be somewhat the same. I was floored by the sound of mine.
-
I may just end up buying 2 tweeters, 2 mid drivers and maybe 1 crossover. I can hear the mid driver on one of the speakers but narely. Do you think that could be the problem?
Thanks for all the help, I could use it!!!! -

I am no expert when it comes to fixing these speakers by no meens. But I would assume you only need the drivers amd tweeters. I would imagine the driver you hear a faint sound from is messed up also. It just might not be as visable as the others. The XO's should be fine. -
Thanks, I called Polk and left them a message to call me back. I will let you know the cost of tweeters and drivers.
-
Hmmmmm. Nobody answered? If they don't call back in 15 minutes. Try them one more time. They close at 5:00pm eastern time I think. If you don't reach them today I am sure you'll get them tomarrow.:)

Keep your peerless; not sure if the RDO's would sound any better, but I do know the Peerless sound beautiful, and to change them you'd probably need to modify crossovers._________________________________________________

ok, here is the deal, 48.00 for each tweeter and 48.00 for each driver, so total for me is 192.00, not counting the 200.00 I have already spent.

no, both magnets were separated from them, I put both magnets on and one seems to work fine, sounds better than the other one, but I think it best to replace both of them

Hello, one of the round tags fromt he tweeter came off and I am looking at it. the date on it is Jan 16, 1985. Does this affect which tweeter I sould order?
