I saw it on Monday...Good movie overall. That Odette Yustman is HOT though. She made the movie for me...

Gotta say though...the camera shakes got me dizzy. Especially in when they were walking through the apartments...I was okay until then.

Overall, I like the concept, and the execution was good. I may not see the sequel if its going to make me YAK. I heard the sequel will be a film release from the military's point of view...revealing more info about the monster and other good stuff.

Wow, that'd be a pretty interesting viewpoint for the sequel.

Oh, and so that's her name. Yeah, she is pretty hot! :D

What? They showed the monster plenty of times. And did a great job with it. It looked great.

Why did it look great? Maybe because you didn't get to stare at it for 20 minutes and tear apart every part of its design.

Just watched it. I thought it was a good movie -- at least the production part. Of course, the actors were really stupid, like in most horror movies, and they had a helluva pain threshold, like in many action flicks. I liked the little monsters. Nice workout for the subs. Glad it was a relatively short movie. Rental worthy.

I have to admit that after all my trash talking about this movie Ill probably end up buying it. I do like the idea of a gigantic monster trashing New York and even tho this one is awful light on monster and heavy on bad acting Ill still pick up a copy once it hits the "previously viewed" bin at Blockbusters.

Agggghhh! You guys are just too picky and opinionated; the movie was fine!

In fact, the effects really added to it and helped create its unique persona!

That did happen and according to all the websites it was the Tangurata satellite that fell from orbit. Tangurato was one of the fictional companies created in the viral marketing campaign and them losing their satellite was on the "official" Tangurato website.

This dude has some pretty good videos about Cloverfield and fast forward to 7:58. Apparently there is an audio clip after the credits that is really pretty cool!

Wasn't horrible...I watched it alone on Friday night. Some nice LFE, but the one trick pony camera work gimmick soon gets more than tiresome. Made it through and decided I sort of liked it. However, my wife wanted to watch it last night. I couldn't take it. On 2nd viewing, the camera work was just too much and seemed too contrived. Neither my wife nor I had the stamina and the flaws were too glaring on the 2nd viewing.

Watched the movie today, and I didn't have any problem with the Shakey-Cam (and I'm guaranteed to throw up at 6 Flags on anything wilder than the concession stand line).

The wound that his girlfriend received (involving rebar) didn't seem to affect her as much as it should have; I'd have been screaming for morphine.

Excellent use of brief shots of the "monster".

The ending, however, was in the style of "No Country for Old Men": I wanted to kill the director.

I guess that's what sequels are for, though.

Be aware that your amp better have enough guts to play this movie: we had to switch everything to small to keep the load off the Onkyo (stop smirking !) and on the sub.

It's a good floor rumbler and wall shaker.

A friend said that as part of the viral marketing for this movie, they mention something about a satellite falling out of orbit and crashing into the ocean, which is what woke up the monster. Supposedly, that's what we're seeing drop into the water.

Of course, my friend could be full of it... but he gave a super detailed account of it, which makes me tend to believe it.

Man I rented this movie on Blu ray. Why??? I have no idea why they put it on blu ray. It didn't do anything but make me get more motion sickness.

This movie in my opnion before I saw it, looked like it was going to be killer. The previews looked awesome. Then I rented it. Man this movie should be unmade. It was effin aweful. I think it's one of the worse movies that could have been cool. The story was aweful, the acting was aweful and the video, come on man, you could barely see what was going on. Eff the concept of it was suppost to be the view of someone with a video camera. That could have been added in here and there and it probably would have been a better movie. How about start and end the story????? What ever happened to that???

    I hate this trash.

I am not going to challenge your opinion, I personally really enjoyed it. But did you not at least enjoy the killer job Skywalker did on the audio side of things? That movie in TrueHD is absolutely stunning.
